Architectural design
The building complex of Macao Cultural Center covers a total area of 45000 square meters, including Macao Art Museum, temporary exhibition gallery, two theatre auditoriums with 1200 seats and 400 seats respectively, conference facilities, music room and dance training room, restaurant and coffee shop, as well as public garden. Macao Cultural Center consists of two large buildings, which are connected by an open central square 45 meters above the street. This square can lead to the main entrance of the two buildings. People can also enjoy a panoramic view of the Pearl River Estuary, as well as the views of Luhuan in the south, ziliangdao and the public garden in the north. The design of Macao Cultural Center is based on the idea of not using too many kinds of building materials as much as possible. Its external decoration only uses 7 dark gray granite and aluminum plate, and its internal decoration only uses granite, white gypsum board and cherry wood plate. The whole building gives people a sense of simplicity and modernity. Due to the strong local natural light, the building columns and beams are designed to interpenetrate with each other and stretch as far as possible, so as to explore a potential light and shade contrast effect. At the top of the building block on the side of the auditorium of the cultural center, there is a huge metal like shape, which is in sharp contrast to the monotonous big boxes of the surrounding office buildings and residential buildings, and protrudes above the city skyline as a symbol of Macao's cultural center
.
The southern part of the building is mainly composed of a five storey exhibition part, which is relatively closed to avoid strong light and noise. It only has a strong visual impact during the large-scale interleaving in the north of the exhibition part. The elevation of the central courtyard is 4.5 meters. You can easily enjoy the view of the harbor courtyard in a tall and quiet environment. In the part of the courtyard facing the sea, there is a slowly downward sloping platform. The gurgling water flows down the slope, extending people's sight into the vast sea. At the end of the courtyard, there is an overpass, passing through the bustling streets by the sea, and finally inserted into a high wall in the sea. The building in the North mainly includes meeting and rest parts. The entrance is a two-story high school hall, and the back shows the gifts of the SAR government. It is surrounded by conference hall, lecture hall and coffee shop. The interior space is bright and dark
.
Macao Museum of art, subordinate to the civil affairs administration, is an integral part of Macao Cultural Center, with a total area of 10192 square meters and an exhibition area of nearly 4000 square meters. It is the largest museum of cultural relics and art in Macao
