The artificial lake in the inspiration Lake Recreation Center is called Dixin lake. It is located in Penny's Bay on Lantau Island, near Hong Kong Disneyland. It was opened to the outside world on August 16, 2005. The center was built by the civil engineering and Development Department of the Hong Kong Government of China at a cost of 400 million yuan and then managed by Walt Disney Company of the United States.

Construction history

In November 1999, the Hong Kong Government of China and Walt Disney reached an agreement to build Hong Kong Disneyland in Penny's Bay, Lantau Island. The government then launched the Hong Kong Disneyland project, in which it said that a large lake with an area of about 12 hectares would be built to the northwest of the theme park. As part of the park, the lake will be used as a public water recreation center and provide irrigation water for the park, with an estimated cost of 80 million yuan.

On October 22, 2001, the Civil Engineering Department awarded the first of five contracts for the foundation development of Penny's Bay to China State Construction Corporation. The project, worth $2.8 billion, is expected to be completed in April 2005. It includes the construction of roads, pipes and canals in Penny's Bay, the construction of landscaping, a part of the public water recreation centre, a 12 hectare artificial lake and related water supply and irrigation systems.

On October 24, 2001, the Dixin Lake activity center officially started construction.

In December 2003, green power exposed that Dongyong Rural Committee illegally carried out "river regulation project" in Dongyong River, and sold the excavated pebbles to China Construction Engineering Corporation, the contractor of Dixin Lake activity center, as the building materials of Dixin lake. Later, the contractor found that the 400 tons of pebbles were illegally mined and stopped using them. It was clarified that they were not used in the man-made reservoir project of Dixin Lake activity center.

On July 11, 2005, the Dixin Lake activity center was officially completed, and a completion ceremony was held next to the center on that day.

On August 16, 2005, Dixin Lake activity center was officially opened.

geographical environment

The Dixin Lake activity center is located in the north of Penny's Bay Development Zone, covering an area of about 30 hectares. There is a 12 hectare artificial reservoir, jogging path, children's playground, service center and plant forest in the park. More than 4800 trees and 430000 shrubs are planted around the center. The name of Dixin Lake activity center comes from its geographical location, between Disneyland and yin'ao (Xin'ao), which can accommodate more than 5000 people.

1. Dixin Lake

Dishing lake is an artificial reservoir with an area of 12 hectares. The deepest part of the pool is about 4.5 meters. It is also the largest artificial reservoir in Hong Kong. In the lake, aquatic plants such as lotus and water lily are planted, and man-made fountains are also set up. The central fountain can shoot water up to 18 meters, while the nearby fountain can shoot water up to 6 meters directly and radially, which can produce 12 kinds of randomly varying water spraying effects. In the northeast of Dixin lake, there is an artificial waterfall made of artificial stone scenery and natural rock. The whole waterfall is composed of streams flowing from seven small pools, with the depth of 600-1000mm. The lake also provides water for Penny's Bay Development Area, including Hong Kong Disneyland, for irrigation.

2. Botanical Garden

With an area of 4 hectares, the botanical garden has more than 1000 plants, including fruit trees, roses, fragrance and other plants. One of them is a 50 year old false bodhi tree originally planted in Caili shipyard, with a crown of more than 20 meters and a height of 8 meters.

3. Children's playground

There are children's play facilities and fountains in the children's playground. Children's play facilities are covered with safety mats. The fountain is illuminated by 16 spotlights, which can produce 12 kinds of randomly varying water spraying effects.

4. Jogging path

The jogging track is 1500 meters long. The trail starts from the service center and extends all the way around the artificial lake. Along the way, there are 9 fitness stations, 6 viewing pavilions and waterfall bridge.

5. Service Center

There is a service center in the dishing Lake activity center, which is composed of a number of old British style buildings with sloping roofs and low floors covered with wood and asphalt tiles. The only changing room and snack shop in the activity center of the Institute are located here, and boat rental service is provided.

The local snack bar is the 7-11 convenience store, which has rice and microwave oven. There are tables and chairs outside the shop, with covers for picnics. There are many picnickers in the Dixin Lake activity center because there are no rules forbidding self provided food and water.

deficiencies

1. There is little shade

There are so few shady areas in the dihin Lake activity center that tourists are embarrassed by the rain and the hot sun. The main reason is that there are too many trees in the center, which can not be shaded. The saplings and the buildings with shade cover are seriously insufficient. For example, the shade is only located in the service center of the activity center and the arbor of the botanical garden. More engineers pointed out that it will take ten years for the saplings in the center to grow into shade trees.

2. Lack of toilets

As there are only two toilets in the center (located at the service center and the slow walk respectively), some tourists complained that the toilets were insufficient and too small at the beginning of the opening ceremony. As a result, tourists had to wait in line. Moreover, the sanitary condition of the toilets was not good. From time to time, there was a peculiar smell, which disgusted the tourists.

3. Vague safety rules for water activities

At the beginning of the opening ceremony of the water sports activities, the public complained that the safety rules of the water sports activities were vague, and the players who did not wear life jackets did not refuse to board the boat, so they were reckless of the safety of the players.

4. Fewer passengers

People in the tourism industry pointed out that the charges for water activities were expensive and the publicity was insufficient after the water activities were managed by Disneyland, so the number of tourists decreased. Some say it's the forgotten Lake dishing.
