Zhuhai Bridge
Zhuhai bridge is a super large bridge connecting Zhuhai City and Gaolan island in Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province, China. It is located in the west of guadingjiao and crosses Modaomen water area of Xijiang River. It is one of the components of Zhuhai Avenue.
Zhuhai bridge project was set up in 1989, started in October 1991 and opened to traffic in November 1993;
On November 28 of the same year, Zhuhai bridge was completed and opened to traffic in both directions.
Zhuhai bridge starts from xinmadun village in the west, crosses Modaomen waterway in the East and ends at Junchang village in the East. The total length of the bridge is 3125m, the total length of the approach bridge is 2485m, and the width is 31m. The bridge deck is a two-way six lane urban expressway with a design speed of 80km / h.
Construction process
In 1989, Zhuhai bridge project was established.
In 1990, Zhuhai municipal government approved the construction of Zhuhai bridge.
In October 1991, Zhuhai bridge was started.
On October 1, 1993, Zhuhai bridge was completed and opened to traffic unilaterally. The cost was 420 million yuan in that year;
On November 28 of the same year, Zhuhai bridge was completed and opened to traffic in both directions.
In June 2012, the structural maintenance of Zhuhai bridge was carried out for the first time. During the construction period, traffic control measures will be taken, such as fully closed single lane and adjusting the other lane from the original one-way three lane to two-way four lane;
On August 11, in order to maintain and strengthen the Zhuhai bridge, the South half of the bridge was closed and the north half was opened to traffic with two-way four lanes; on November 7, in order to ensure smooth traffic during the air show, the Zhuhai bridge temporarily resumed full operation; on November 25, affected by the continued reinforcement construction, the north half of the bridge was closed and the South half was opened to traffic with two-way four lanes.
From May 16 to 17, 2015, Zhuhai bridge was repaired.
On November 8, 2017, Zhuhai bridge was semi closed.
Bridge location
Zhuhai bridge is located about 10km southwest of Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province, China. It is located in the coastal accumulation plain at the estuary of Xijiang River. The terrain on both sides of the bridge is flat. The left bank (Zhuhai) is close to the downstream of the bridge site. There is a guadingjiao mountain about 200m above sea level, and the right bank (Doumen) is the reclamation area of Hezhou, about 3mm wide. There are many canals in the area. About 1 km from the upstream of the bridge site is the boundary of Zhongshan City.

Overall layout
Zhuhai bridge is composed of main channel bridge, auxiliary channel bridge, approach bridge on both banks and intermediate approach bridge. The main navigation hole is on the side of Zhuhai bank.
Design concept
Zhuhai bridge is located at the estuary of Xijiang River. The river center is well developed. The main bridge has high navigable clearance and is divided into main and auxiliary navigable holes. The terrain on both sides of the road is flat, so the approach bridges on both sides and the middle approach bridges are long. In order to reduce the cost, the designer adopts the principle of advanced main bridge and economical approach bridge. After comparison and selection of multiple schemes, the main channel bridge adopts prestressed concrete continuous rigid frame. The reason is that the main span is small, the number of spans is small, and the piers have a certain height. The use of double thin-walled piers shows that the bridge is light and beautiful, saves expensive large tonnage bearings, and is convenient for construction, and does not need to carry out the system conversion of restoration, which can speed up the construction period.
Design features
The superstructure of the main channel bridge of Zhuhai bridge is a meter prestressed concrete continuous rigid frame with two separated single chamber box girders in the transverse direction. Each box is designed as three lanes. The T-beam of the approach bridge on both banks is erected with floor gantry.
Design parameters
Zhuhai bridge has a total length of 3125m, a total length of 2485m and a span of 31m. It is designed for two-way 6-lane traffic, with lane width of 2 × 12.5m, both sides of sidewalk of 2M and central divider of 2m, with a total width of 31m. The upper part of the main channel bridge is arranged with "70m + 2m × 125m + 70m" span, with box girder top width of 14.3m, bottom width of 7m, fulcrum beam height of 6.8m as 1 / 18.38 of the span, and middle beam height of 2.5m as the span The bottom edge curve is parabola to the power of 1.8, the auxiliary channel bridge adopts continuous beam of "45m + 2m × 80m + 45m", and the ratio of side to middle span is 0.56. In order to shorten the bridge length, a longitudinal slope of 3.5% is adopted for the approach bridge of Zhuhai coast of Zhuhai bridge.

Traffic matters
Zhuhai bridge is located in the coastal area. It will be temporarily closed in stormy weather and no vehicles will be allowed to pass.

From 0:00 on January 20, 2019, the traffic monitoring system on Zhuhai bridge will be officially put into operation to capture and punish illegal drivers in real time.

Technical problems
At the site of Zhuhai bridge, there are not only Xijiang fault in northwest direction, but also baitengshan guadingjiao fault in northeast direction, which intersects with the bridge axis at a small angle (< 10 °). And the bridge axis is located in the hanging wall of nee fracture. In order to ensure the safety of the bridge, the bridge position was moved down 200 meters after expert evaluation. Construction drilling shows that no complex geological structure has been found except Xijiang fault after the bridge site moved. The bridge is close to the guadingjiao mountain, with shallow overburden and short length of pile foundation. The increased excavation quantity is used to solve the filling of bridge head subgrade, and the additional curve in the connection makes the approach bridge within the curve, which increases the linear beauty of the bridge.
The middle approach bridge of Zhuhai bridge is controlled by the construction period of the main and auxiliary channel bridges, so the bridge erector can not pass through the bridge. The water depth between the two channels is shallow, and the water depth is only about 2 meters during the ebb tide period, so it can not be directly lifted by floating crane. This bridge adopts the method of combining floating crane and bridge erector. First, the three hole T-beam near the main channel bridge is installed by floating crane, and then assembled on the erected T-beam The later T-beam will be erected by bridge erecting machine. In order to speed up the progress, the cast-in-place joints between T beams are not constructed at first, only the diaphragms of T beams are welded with steel plates, and then the joint concrete is poured intensively after the lower beam is erected.
