Dongyue Temple in Putian
Putian Dongyue Temple is located in the center of new street, Jiangkou Town, Hanjiang District, Putian. The whole building is magnificent, with neat layout. The front hall, the middle hall and the back hall are connected by corridors and veranda, and the stone pillars are erected between them. It is an integral whole, which is simple and elegant. The front hall is the main building, with a single eaves built in Xieshan. It is five rooms wide, with Dragon Ridge and Phoenix eaves on the top of the hall, decorated with colorful glass. The central hall, the back hall, the ten kings hall, the worship Pavilion, the memorial hall and the two verandas all keep the characteristics of the Qing Dynasty. There are still some cultural relics in the temple, such as the giant plaque of "Donghuang Siming" written by Zeng Chuqing, the Minister of rites in the Ming Dynasty, the couplet of Guo Shangxian, the calligrapher in the Qing Dynasty, the plaque of "Jishi mengxiu" given by Jiang Chunlin, the censor of the Qing Dynasty, and the plaque of "Wuyue duzun" written by Linsen.
Putian Dongyue Temple was founded in 1336, the second year of the Yuan Dynasty. It was named Yousheng temple at the beginning. It was rebuilt in 1413, the 11th year of Yongle in Ming Dynasty, and then collapsed. In 1609, he Nanjin, the magistrate of Putian County, was rebuilt and renamed "Dongyue Temple".
