The largest sketching base in the north, the city of painting, is officially located in chuyugou village, Xinglong County, Hebei Province.

With convenient transportation, beautiful natural scenery and pleasant climate, Xinglong County has long been favored by painters. Every year, a large number of painters and students come here to paint from life, known as the "living gallery" in the eyes of literary artists.

Over the years, many famous painters, including Zhang Ding, Jia Youfu and so on, have come to Xinglong to paint from life, and left excellent works handed down from generation to generation. In recent years, Beijing, Tianjin, Tangshan, Shijiazhuang, Liaoning and other surrounding art colleges, art groups, studios have come here to carry out art photography, sketching and other activities. The "city of painting" sketching base has been established, with the "city of painting" as the center, radiating chaoheyuan, hengheyuan, Liuliping, jiulongtan bailichangxia huangyanshan, Shili gallery and other natural scenic spots. At present, Hebei Academy of painting, Hebei Normal University, Hebei Normal University for nationalities, Chengde Art Association, calligraphy association, Liaoning Kazuo Art Association, Chengde Pingquan Art Association have designated the "city of painting" as their sketching base.

At present, there is a restaurant in the city of painting, which can accommodate 150 people at the same time.
