gold-fish pond
Goldfish pond, located in the north of the temple of heaven in Chongwen District, Beijing, was first formed in the Jin Dynasty. At that time, due to large-scale construction, many ponds were formed after the water accumulated in the pits.
brief introduction
According to the old records, there is a hall on the pond and a yaochi pond on the list. Many willows are planted around the pond, which is called "yuzaochi".
This is the place where goldfish were raised in the Jin, yuan, Ming, Qing and even the period of the Republic of China
Nearby households are engaged in the cultivation of goldfish. Tens of acres of ponds are scattered all over the place. Fish farmers operate their own fish ponds and cultivate many excellent varieties of goldfish, which are then sold on the market.
According to historical records of the Ming and Qing Dynasties, there used to be a lot of garden pavilions and pavilions of dignitaries around the goldfish pond. The new garden of Hou Liwei in the Ming Dynasty is a very famous one. He introduced the water from the Sanli River into the garden. In the garden, there were fish ponds for boating, plum blossom Pavilion, Fulou, boat bridge, Yulong Pavilion, promenade and other buildings. It can be imagined that they were extremely beautiful and spectacular.
In addition, the golden fish pond is full of weeping willows and rippling water. The lively scene of tourists playing with fish is just like the fish market in Jiangpu.
These relics have long been extinct. During the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, the area of the goldfish pond was still tens of Mu wide. Every time it came to the Dragon Boat Festival in summer, there were many tourists, some people singing and drinking beside the pond, which made them happy. However, in the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China, the area of the goldfish pond was declining, the weeping willows were felled, the gardens and pavilions were decadent, and the sewage flowed, which turned into a stinky puddle.
Many laboring people live in simple and low shacks nearby. They live in extreme poverty. Every summer and rainy season, sewage overflows, mosquitoes and flies breed, and diseases spread. They are famous slums in old Beijing.

After liberation, the people's government first thoroughly built the goldfish pond area where the working people lived. It changed the Longxu ditch into an underground ditch, and organized the filling of pits to build the lake. After completion, the lake water was as clear as a mirror, the pond bank was built with concrete railings, and weeping willows were planted along the bank. It became a small park.
So far, the appearance of the goldfish pond has greatly changed. However, due to the lack of water, the goldfish pond is still stagnant, and the deterioration of the environment can not be avoided for a long time.
So in 1966, the lake was filled and the buildings were built, forming a new residential area. All the residents in the original neighborhood moved into new buildings, and their living conditions were greatly improved.
Today's East Street, middle street and West Street of jinyuchi are the former sites of jinyuchi.
