Xiju Museum

Xiju museum is located in the west end of Dacheng Lane pedestrian street in the central urban area of Wuxi. It is connected with Yunguo garden in Changda Lane in the South and Wuxi painting and Calligraphy Academy in the north. It is not only advantageous in location, but also elegant. With a construction area of 1492 square meters, it has three floors on the ground and one floor underground, and is composed of exhibition hall and theater building. As the collection work continues after the opening of the museum, the donations from all walks of life will be more and more abundant. Xiju Museum covers an area of nearly 1500 square meters. The whole building is permeated with the traditional architectural style and elements of Jiangnan. The exhibition hall is divided into two parts: xiju Museum exhibition and experimental theater. The museum exhibition of xiju shows the history of xiju's emergence, development, prosperity and inheritance in a static form, displaying more than 3000 historical materials such as words, pictures and objects. The experimental theater has the function of "drama garden", providing on-site performing space and cultural leisure services for the general public.

Collection

1. At the beginning of the 20th century, Yuan Renyi's record made by Shanghai Xianshi company was the first record in xiju opera circle; in the 1850s, Wuxi County Government approved the ban of tanhuang performance, and other 15 important cultural relics.

2. In the early and middle of the 20th century, there were more than 80 original screenplays and handwritten mimeograph scripts in the early liberation period.

3. There were more than 10 performance posters before and after liberation.

4. There are more than 200 brochures in different periods and different academies.

5. There are more than 50 records of different periods and materials.

architectural composition

1. Hall

The pattern of chicken cage and caisson in the ancient theater is suspended ceiling. A group of sculptures by Fang Qing and Chen cui'e in "Gift Tower" and opera features of Sheng, Dan, Jing, Mo and Chou costumes; traditional elements such as boat shed Xuan, net brick, palace lamp, antique blue brick door frame, blue calico curtain and a relief of yanjiaqiao old scene, etc., render the origin of xiju opera in Wu, Jiangnan Water Town and the nourishment of Wu culture with a long history.

2. Exhibition hall

The origin and evolution of xiju (xiju) began with folk tunes, was influenced by Tanci, xuanjuan and Kunqu Opera, and gradually formed tanhuang opera, and then developed into influential operas through the evolution of duizi opera, xiaotongchang opera, Datong opera and Wenxi opera. The development and prosperity of xiju partly reflected that xiju art gradually moved from local art to real stage art Through the major art activities, Xi opera, together with Yue Opera and Huangmei Opera, has become the achievement and glory of the three major operas in East China. The warm care part records the precious scenes of the party and state leaders and local leaders watching the Xi opera or being together with the Xi opera actors; the list of winners of Wenhua award, plum blossom award and magnolia award is listed in the list of awards. The film section of Xi opera lists the art films of Xi opera films, and the bright stars section shows senior writers, directors, music, singing design, performers, dance design and other experts. The physical part is used by musical instruments, dance beauty and famous actors. Scripts, brochures, film copies, records, comic books and so on touch Xi opera from all aspects.

3. Audio visual room

4. Theater

The auditorium, decorated with old building materials and ancient architectural techniques, floor to floor lattice windows, antique tables, chairs, tea tables, balcony boxes, etc., all have the combination of Jiangnan Water style and modern stage core with complete sound, light and electricity equipment, which not only coordinates with the style of the museum, but also has the function of contemporary audience's appreciation of opera aesthetic needs. The theater continues the static display of the museum's display and dynamic display of the charm of xiju art, and successfully explores and innovates the display form of the Opera Museum.
