historical origin
The architectural form of Lingshan Vatican Palace breaks through the tradition. It is mainly made of solid and durable materials such as stone. It uses a large number of tall porch columns, long-span beams and columns, towering domes, and super large halls. It not only embodies the profundity and loftiness of Buddhism, but also integrates the traditional cultural elements with the distinctive characteristics of the times. The whole building is built on the mountain, which integrates the architectural essence of the three largest Buddhist languages in the world. Its "special" and the "big" of Grand Buddha at Lingshan and the "bathing" of Kowloon constitute the three wonders of the new Lingshan. It has absorbed the essence of traditional Chinese wood carving, stone carving, jade carving, copper carving and other decorations. Entering the Vatican Palace, a strong cultural atmosphere is coming. Zhu Bingren's Bronze carvings, Dongyang's wood carvings, Dunhuang technicians' hand-made murals, glass masterpieces, Yangzhou lacquerware, oil painting group, cloisonne Xumi lamp, Jingdezhen green pollen color VAT, Ou sculpture relief murals, these art treasures are performing excellent traditional culture in various regions of Lingshan Vatican Palace.
Cultural heritage
The culture of the Vatican Palace is not only static, but also dynamic. At the holy altar of Lingshan, which has multi-function of meeting and performance, a music ceremony with the theme of promoting traditional culture and enlightening spiritual wisdom will be staged and rehearsed by a domestic high-level team director. As the carrier of Oriental Buddhist art, Lingshan Vatican Palace can be called the Oriental "Louvre". The Vatican Palace is full of treasures, brilliance and profound Buddhist art. Large stone slab buildings, golden pointed roofs and exquisite relief of Buddha statues are just the beginning, and even more amazing inside the Vatican Palace.
The internal space of the Vatican Palace is independent and connected with each other, which is composed of hall, corridor hall, tower hall, altar, Sanchuan hall, thousand people banquet hall, etc. The exquisite Dongyang wood carvings, the hand-made murals of Dunhuang technicians, the dazzling glass works, the elegant Ou sculpture relief murals, the exquisite Yangzhou lacquerware, the magnificent oil paintings, the elegant cloisonne Xumi lamp, and the exquisite Jingdezhen blue and white color bucket These art treasures, which gather numerous cultural heritages and artistic treasures, are all over the various areas of the Lingshan Vatican Palace, presenting the excellent traditional culture incisively and vividly, making people dizzying and endless. For example: the Vatican altar with multi-function of meeting and performance can hold a large-scale international conference of 2000 people. During the recess, a large-scale situational performance "the road to enlightenment" directed and rehearsed by a top domestic team composed of Lin Zhaohua and he Xuntian, with the theme of promoting traditional culture and enlightening spiritual wisdom, will be held every day. A group of dreamlike wonderful scenes will reappear the magical and spectacular scenes of the opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympic Games, bringing unprecedented brand-new experience and unforgettable cultural experience to the audience.
Before entering the palace gate, the first thing you can see is the white elephants in Buddhism. The white elephants in front of us are produced in Myanmar. The typical white marble elephants represent the sacred objects of God in Buddhism. There is a little-known "bright spot" in the Lingshan Vatican Palace complex, that is, the lighting technology used in the Vatican Palace is "see light but not see light". In "light, architecture and Buddhist culture", the architecture of the Vatican Palace is integrated with the lighting design, making the light source very hidden. The secret of "see light but not light" lies in the huge shaft at the top of the building. This shaft sinking is a combination of different wood components, one layer at a time. Through the wood carving components, the light behind, and entering the Vatican hall, visitors will feel the solemnity and mystery brought by the light. That is the ingenuity of lighting designers - "see the light but not the light" Vatican Hall. The large series of oil paintings here will take time as the sequence, focusing on the spread, exchange and development of Buddhism The title, outlines a group of bright and magnificent historical picture of Buddhism. This time, Lingshan palace Gallery selected oil painting techniques to express the large-scale Buddhist art works with such lofty idea, magnificent space and rich connotation. It is not only an unprecedented creation in the history of Buddhism, but also a brilliant stroke in the history of Chinese art, and will become a masterpiece handed down in the history of Chinese Buddhist culture and art.
Precious wood carving
With the exquisite Dongyang wood carving technique and elements such as flowers, cloud patterns, four spirits, and Huixing, the Vatican Palace's interior wood carving group fully embodies the Chinese traditional culture's appeal for auspiciousness and blessing, and is closely connected with the architecture and Buddhist culture. The shape is accurate and vivid, and the high relief, which is close to round sculpture, makes the volume feeling unparalleled through the delicate and complex compression relationship. At the same time, the application categories are extremely rich, ranging from nearly four meter high white wood carving bottles, two person high gilded Buddha statues, to the staircase handrail xumizuo. All of them are exquisitely carved, with wooden lattice and vivid images. Especially in the corridor hall and tower hall, a large number of Dongyang wood carving building components and decorative components are integrated, such as Falcon's "bracket" and Dougong, which combine the artistic atmosphere with the architectural function. Corridor hall and tower hall are also the most important and concentrated areas of wood carving decoration. Especially in the upper part, each beam and column should be carved with auspicious patterns or Buddhist stories. Every floor of the tower hall is carved everywhere, especially the curved ceiling will be covered with flying patterns. The wood carving decoration area of the whole Lingshan Vatican Palace is 15000 square meters, using 1400 cubic meters of logs. Even in the highest place of more than 60 meters in the Vatican Palace, it is also represented by the most meticulous techniques, from the creation of woodcarving drawings to the 20 processes of log processing, cutting, deep carving, rough carving, fine carving, polishing and gilding. The most difficult part of the construction is not the design and processing, but the installation construction. First of all, the single components are too large, many of which weigh thousands of kilograms. Due to the indoor construction, the crane can not be used, so the labor cost can be imagined. Secondly, the space is too large. The scale of the Vatican Palace has never been encountered in the process of Dongyang wood carving decoration. Finally, in such a large space, there is no attachment to place the woodcarving components. According to Lu Guangzheng, a master of Chinese arts and crafts in charge of woodcarving projects, the Vatican woodcarving group is the largest project ever undertaken by Dongyang Woodcarving in the Qing Dynasty
Judging by the three comprehensive standards of volume, process complexity and application category, the wood carving elements in the Vatican Palace are undoubtedly in the leading position. No wonder Master Lu Guangzheng summoned more than 1000 craftsmen to sweat day and night for more than a year. Instead of 23 trains of leather wood, he got 15000 square meters of amazing Dongyang wood carvings full of sense of life.
Buddhist landscape
If you have ever been to Lingshan Vatican Palace, you will remember the bronze carving "Baizi Xi Maitreya", which is a masterpiece handed down from generation to generation. As one of the Buddhist landscapes at the foot of Lingshan mountain in Wuxi, Xi Maitreya, the 100th son in the world, is elaborately designed and produced by Zhu Bingren, a master of Chinese arts and crafts. The whole Buddha statue is 8.5 meters long and made of huge cast copper. The base is carved, reclining and reclining. Maitreya's left hand grasps the Buddha's beads, smiling, his ears drooping. In Maitreya Shuo's body, there are a whole hundred naughty children who are playing, each with different shapes and spirits, lifelike. The children tease the Buddha by means of folding, tug of war, urinating, and stabbing Maitreya's navel with a branch. Maitreya Buddha is not supported after all, and is still happy, reflecting Maitreya's magnanimity of inclusiveness.
"Baizi Maitreya" artistically and implicitly portrays Maitreya's unique character of "tolerating the world's difficult things and laughing at the world's ridiculous people" in both form and spirit, which is Zhu Bingren's vivid creation and artistic exaggeration. "Baizi Maitreya" has been patented by the state. And won the "2001 Hong Kong International Patent Expo Gold Award" and "world science development achievement award".
