Shangzhen Taoist temple was founded in the second year of the reign of emperor TAIDING of the Yuan Dynasty (1325) and was raised by Taoist Xiao Yeyun. In the 17th year of Wanli (1589), Yuanhu road was rebuilt by Li Bai. In 1724, Taoist Jiang Yunshan added Doumu pavilion to the East. Xianfeng three years (1853), destroyed by war. It was rebuilt in 1867. The town was named "Daoyuan town" because of the temple. In August 1993, with the approval of Fengxian County People's government, Fengxian Shangzhen Taoist temple was restored and opened to the outside world. Sanqing hall was built in 1996, Doumu hall was completed in 1997, Tianshi hall was completed in 1998, and the temple of wealth was built in 2001. The Taoist temple worships the statues of Sanqing, Doumu, 60jiazi, God of wealth, immortal Cihang, Tianshi Zhang, Chenghuang, Xianggong Shi and master Yang.
Shangzhen Taoist temple covers an area of about 3300 square meters, surrounded by water on three sides, Qingshui River in the East, Xiaoheng River in the South and Zhanggang in the north. There is Jinlan bridge on Qingshui River, connecting the East and West long street of Daoyuan ancient town. With a construction area of 1551 square meters, there are three temples and three main halls. Entering the first Hall of the main gate, it is mainly for Taoist thousand handed Avalokitesvara.
