Shanghai Sanshan guild hall was built in 1909, which was funded by Fujian fruit merchants in Shanghai. It was completed in 1914. It is the only well preserved guild hall in Shanghai in the late Qing Dynasty. Because there are three mountains in Fuzhou City: Yushan in the southeast, Wushi mountain in the Southwest (also known as daoshan) and Yuewang mountain in the North (also known as min mountain), the guild hall is named "three mountains". The main building of the guild hall covers an area of 1000 square meters. The whole building is carved with beams and painted buildings. The hall is tall, chic and beautiful, full of Fujian characteristics.
Sanshan guild hall was listed as a cultural relic protection unit in Shanghai in 1959. It was moved and completed in October 1989 and opened to the public. Now it is the patriotism education base of Shanghai, the national defense education base of Shanghai, the red tourism base of Shanghai, and the exhibition hall of urban cultural characteristics of Expo 2010.
