Xiaojing Temple
According to historical records, Xiaojing temple was built in Qiandao year of Southern Song Dynasty and destroyed in Yongle year of Ming Dynasty. It is said that the temple is the first of 72 temples along the Yangtze River. There are 5048 temples. The stone pillars with a diameter of nearly meters are enough to prove the magnificence of the temple at that time.
It is said that in the struggle for the throne in the early Ming Dynasty, Zhu Yunwen (Jianwen emperor), the eldest grandson of Zhu Yuanzhang, once took refuge in the temple after his defeat. His uncle Zhu Di (Yongle Emperor) burned the temple in anger. The temple houses rebuilt by later generations still amount to more than 200 square meters, and the main hall and side hall were not demolished until 1992.
At present, the folk funds have been raised to rebuild Xiaojing Temple beside the original site.
