Baoqing Temple
Baoqing temple is located on the North Bank of qinglindu by the Yaojiang River of ZhuangQiao, Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province. It was built in the second year of Duangong in the Northern Song Dynasty.
According to local chronicles, Baoqing temple was built in the second year of Duangong (989) of the Northern Song Dynasty. It was built by Zen master zongben and was originally named "Xizi Temple". During the Kaixi period of the Southern Song Dynasty (1205-1207), the monk Guangqing carried out large-scale expansion and invited the court. In 1222, Emperor ningzong of Song Dynasty gave the name of "Baoqing Temple", and invited Wang Yinglin, the elder of the three dynasties, the great Confucian and the Minister of rites, to write the book of Baoqing temple. When the new Guanyin hall was completed, Huang Zhen, another great Confucian, was invited to write the record of Guanyin hall in Baoqing Shuo temple. During the period of the Republic of China, the temple was gradually dilapidated. After liberation, the temple was once used as a school, and later as a warehouse and villager's house. During the cultural revolution, the temples were broken, the Buddhas and Buddhas had no existence, and the incense was interrupted.
In February 1993, the monks of the temple vowed to revive Baoqing ancient temple. With the strong support and warm care of Ningbo Buddhist Association, government departments and ten believers, over the past few years, they overcame many difficulties and finally made the Millennium ancient temple shine again. The reconstructed Mahatma hall, with its heavy tower and Xieshan mountain, is majestic and solemn. In the hall, there is a caisson with "Ming Long Ding", which is rare in eastern Zhejiang Buddhist hall. There is a jade Buddha with a net height of 3.8 meters in the main hall, which is the highest in all temples in our city. The New Jade Buddha Hall, the ancestral master hall, the Jialan hall, the moved dizang hall, the new mountain gate, the bell and Drum Tower, the free life pool, the heavenly king hall and four antique rooms make the Buddhist temple more large-scale and a great view of the jungle.
