Historical evolution
In June 1983, Wang Yi and Wang Fangzi proposed to build the China Printing Museum.
In October 1991, fan Muhan presided over the preparatory work for the construction of China Printing Museum.
On December 4, 1992, China Printing Museum held a foundation laying ceremony.
On June 1, 1996, the China Printing Museum was officially completed and opened to the outside world. Comrade Jiang Zemin wrote the name of the museum himself.
On April 15, 2000, China Printing Museum established its first branch in Gutenberg Museum. In the same year, a second branch was built in Vienna college.
In April 2001, the printing equipment museum was built on the ground floor of China Printing Museum.
On October 30, 2008, the China Printing Museum opened its third branch in the Australian Chinese Museum in Melbourne.
On July 4, 2013, China Printing Museum established an exhibition hall of printing history in Dangkou ancient town, Wuxi

The museum also has an interactive experience area where visitors can experience the ancient papermaking process and engraving movable type printing process

Exhibition hall of ancient Chinese printing
Located on the first floor of the China Printing Museum, the exhibition hall of ancient Chinese printing shows the historical process of the origin, development, inheritance and dissemination of ancient Chinese printing from the Neolithic era to the Qing Dynasty with pictures, text descriptions and objects. The development of ancient printing technology is one of the key parts of the museum display. It also shows the engraving symbols 8000 years ago and the rubbing and printing technology in the Wei, Jin, southern and Northern Dynasties. Visitors can appreciate the world-famous scrolled Jingang Jing of Tang Dynasty; Chunqiu Jing Zhuan and Anmin notice, the treasures of Zhenguan; the restored clay movable type invented by Bisheng of Song Dynasty; and the movable type wheel typesetting plate invented by Wang Zhen of Yuan Dynasty. The inheritance of printing focuses on the World Cultural Heritage related to printing. In the part of communication, we mainly show the external transmission route of Chinese printing through sand table

World modern printing exhibition hall
The world modern printing exhibition hall is located on the second floor of China Printing Museum, with an exhibition area of about 800 square meters. The exhibition hall is divided into three units: the introduction and development of modern and contemporary printing technology, the rise and development of modern and contemporary printing industry in China, and printing and contemporary life. It shows the course of docking, blending and mutual learning between Chinese invented printing technology and modern Western printing technology in the 19th century, and the rapid development speed of world printing technology. Printing equipment Museum
The printing equipment museum is located on the ground floor of China Printing Museum, covering an area of 2200 square meters. It was completed in April 2001. The museum displays a variety of prepress, printing and Postpress processing equipment from 1865 to the early 1990s. These include the early hand-held iron press, type casting and typesetting machine, manual phototypesetting machine, the world's only one made by Miley company in 1926, weighing 45 tons of double full sheet and two-color offset press, and the lithographic press made in Austria in 1892

Collection

Many precious collections of the China Printing Museum were donated by the museum's Advisory Committee of experts and some well-known social figures, ranging from pottery of historical value, scriptures, ancient and modern font, type, printing equipment, to complete sets of printed books. In 2005, with the support of the General Administration of press and publication and the State Administration of cultural relics, the museum Advisory Committee participated in the auction and took the song version of the spring and Autumn Annals as the treasure of the museum to the China Printing Museum. In 2015, it obtained the copy of Dawenkou Culture pottery statue in Shandong Province, and put the earliest Chinese characters into the museum
