Entering the round automatic door of the exhibition hall, you will enter a "time and space tunnel". The pictures on both sides show the progress of Shanghai's Tunnel Construction: Shanghai began to build its first tunnel, Dapu Road Tunnel, in 1970. After that, the north line of Yan'an east road tunnel was built in 1988, the first phase of sewage treatment was built in 1993, the subway line 1 was built in 1995, and the Xiangyin road tunnel was completed in 2006 So far, more than ten tunnel projects have been completed. The functions of tunnels are various, including river crossing highway tunnel, subway tunnel, sightseeing tunnel, underground pedestrian passage, cable passage, water diversion and drainage tunnel, etc. There are many ways to build tunnels. Such as shield method, immersed tube method, pipe jacking method and so on, shield method is suitable for soft water stratum and urban underground pipeline dense tunnel construction, so it is widely used in Shanghai. It is worth mentioning that visitors can also see with their own eyes that the monitoring personnel of Fuxing East Road Tunnel are working in the special transparent central control room. They are monitoring the dynamics of every corner of the tunnel 24 hours a day through the electronic screen, and take immediate action in case of any situation. The virtual interactive room on the fourth floor of the exhibition hall is specially designed for children. Visitors can experience the feeling of galloping in the tunnel by sitting in the simulated cab and operating the steering wheel with both hands. In addition, the tunnel science and Technology Museum has also set up a future tunnel exhibition area, such as the subsea floating tunnel.
