History Museum of Shanghai Jiaotong University

Shanghai Jiaotong University was born in 1896, initially known as "Nanyang public school". In the long-term process of running school, it has formed the tradition of "high starting point, thick foundation, strict requirements, and emphasis on practice", which has brought up a large number of outstanding scientists, educators, literary artists and social activists for the Chinese nation. Her hard and tortuous road is a miniature of the development history of modern higher education in China.

On April 8, 1996, the school history museum of Jiaotong University, which integrates patriotism education with school situation and history education, was officially completed in the old library of Xuhui campus of Jiaotong University. The exhibition hall covers an area of more than 600 square meters, with three basic exhibitions: "school history exhibition", "pictures and materials exhibition of academicians of the two academies of Jiaotong University" and "exhibition room of Professor Lin Tongyan". Take the establishment and development of the school as the main line. Decompose the pre release, post liberation and alumni parts to show the precious cultural relics, pictures, historical materials and other contents of each historical period.

7、 Responsible for the management and protection of the school's cultural relics and exhibits, strictly implement the "Shanghai Jiaotong University Cultural Relics and exhibits management standard", actively carry out the collection, identification and classification of the school's historical relics, sort out the registration, and put them in storage for safekeeping;

Responsibilities of exhibition design office

The exhibition design room is a technical functional department led by the school archives to coordinate with the development of the school's cultural and Museum undertakings and organize the implementation of Museum exhibition work

architectural composition

The exhibition hall of the School History Museum covers a total area of more than 600 square meters, with a total of three exhibition halls. The time span of the first exhibition hall is from the founding of Nanyang University to the liberation of Shanghai, which is divided into three periods: "the founding of Nanyang University", "the construction of Modern Engineering University" and "the Jiaotong University combining science, engineering and management"; the time span of the second exhibition hall is from the liberation of Shanghai to the present. These two exhibition halls display nearly 700 pieces of precious cultural relics, documents, photos and other materials, reflecting the development course of the school and the fruitful achievements of the school in the past century. The third exhibition hall is the academician performance exhibition of "two academies" of Shanghai Jiaotong University. Nearly 200 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of engineering who have studied or taught in Jiaotong University are exhibited. Their biographies and main achievements are introduced in the order of their birth dates. In the third exhibition room, there is Professor Lin Tongyan's exhibition room, displaying more than 300 photos, works, papers and pictures of Mr. Lin Tongyan, a famous alumni of Jiaotong University, an internationally renowned structural engineer, educator and a Chinese American scholar.
