Mushi mountain is located in the middle section of Kunlun Mountain in China, at the junction of Hotan County and Cele county. At an altitude of 6638 meters, its southern foot blends into the Qinghai Tibet Plateau with an average altitude of more than 4500 meters, while its northern foot connects with the Tarim basin with an altitude of about 1300 meters. The relative height difference between the South and north slopes is more than 3000 meters, which fully interprets the characteristics of Kunlun Mountains.

Together with the surrounding high peaks, Mount Musi forms the magnificent Kunlun Mountains. Under the ice and snow layer, the bedrock is composed of Precambrian schist, marble, quartzite and gneiss. The area of glacier is more than 2700 square kilometers, and the total ice and snow reserves are 350 billion cubic meters. Strong ice erosion carved the mountain into sharp corner peaks and edge ridges, making the peak shape more clear and spectacular. The snow line of the area is 5200-5400 meters, and the annual average temperature near the snow line is about - 12 ° C. The north slope of the peak is divided into glacial alpine zone, freezing alpine zone, dry and semi dry alpine zone, dry denuded middle mountain zone, dry denuded low mountain and hilly zone, and alluvial proluvial inclined plain. As early as the Han Dynasty, the famous Silk Road in the plain lvyuanzhou belt was also known as the "Jade Road". At that time, there were records of jade mining in the Kunlun Mountains, which vividly described the mountains, rivers, climate and other phenomena in the area. In modern times, the investigation and description of the mount Mushi area were more detailed. On July 25, 1984, Chinese scientists made the first investigation on the geomorphology, geology, meteorology, hydrology, branches, plants, soil and other subjects in the area, and made great achievements.

In recent years, with the in-depth scientific investigation in Kunlun mountain area, mountaineering and scientific exploration tourism is also heating up. Now every year, some international and domestic tourists come to mountaineering and scientific exploration activities, and have begun to take shape.
