Chengdu Sui Tang kiln site museum is located at No. 31, West 2nd section of the first ring road in Chengdu. It is a department level institution managed by Chengdu Museum. The kiln site of Sui and Tang Dynasties in Chengdu was named after the prosperity of porcelain making in the Sui and Tang Dynasties. The kiln site of Qingyang palace is also named because it is located in the north of Qingyang palace. The site was excavated from 1955 to 1983, covering an area of about 2 square kilometers. It is a large-scale and well preserved comprehensive kiln in Sichuan Province in the Sui and Tang Dynasties, filling the gap in the distribution of ancient ceramic sites in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River. In order to undertake the protection, publicity, exhibition, research, management and planning of the kiln site, Chengdu Museum of cultural relics of Sui and Tang Dynasties was established in December 1985. In April 1991, it was announced as a cultural relic protection unit at the provincial level. In June 2004, the Institute of cultural management was incorporated into Chengdu Museum and renamed Chengdu Sui Tang kiln site museum.

The Sui and Tang Dynasty kiln sites can be divided into three areas: kiln area, workshop area and waste accumulation area.
Collection
At present, there are seven well protected pottery kilns in the Warring States period, Qin and Han Dynasties, Sui short dragon kiln and Tang Mantou kiln, among which the discovery of short dragon kiln is the first in China. There are more than 6000 artifacts unearthed from the kiln site, mainly folk daily necessities and stationery, including pottery, porcelain, kiln furniture, building components, pottery figurines and animal models, as well as coins, animal bones, bronzes and stone tools, etc. it is a large-scale folk kiln with strong Sichuan local characteristics, mainly firing celadon porcelain, and also firing pottery. This ancient kiln has been firing pottery and porcelain for 1200 years, with advanced firing technology, rich product types and innovative decoration technology (color painting), which has high archaeological and scientific research value.
