Beijing people and Animal Environmental Protection Science Popularization Center is a public welfare private non enterprise unit founded by Ms. Zhang Luping and approved by Beijing Civil Affairs Bureau. The center is committed to improving people's awareness of animal protection and achieving harmonious coexistence between human and animals through protection and rescue of small animals and publicity and education activities. It is a comprehensive science popularization entity integrating animal protection publicity and education, animal rescue and treatment, and the only non-profit folk animal shelter and protection institution approved by the government in China.

The center is located in Xiaotangshan Town, Changping District, covering an area of 25000 square meters and a building area of 2000 square meters. Among them, there are 10 dog houses, 1 cat house, 3 poultry houses and 2 separate injury isolation areas, which can accommodate more than 500 animals. At the same time, it also has propaganda classroom, office, animal treatment center and other facilities. Established in 1997, the center is located in Mentougou mountain area. It was moved to the current site on April 28, 2001.

developing process

Beijing people and Animal Environmental Protection Science Popularization Center was established by Ms. Zhang Luping after ten years of hard work. It has gone through four stages from scratch and from small to large.

The first stage: Zhang Luping used her office and her house to take in the rescued animals.

The second stage: with the increasing number of small animals rescued, Zhang Luping kept moving. Finally, she had to live in the countryside and spent two years in Shilihe farm house and Daxing rural warehouse.

The third stage: in order to create a relatively stable environment for the rescue work under the regulations of the municipal government, Zhang Luping prepared to build the Beijing Environmental Protection Education Center for people and animals in 1997, and rebuilt a dilapidated barracks in Mentougou mountain area. Since then, the small animals went into the gully with Zhang Luping.

The fourth stage: due to the inconvenient transportation in Mentougou mountain area, water shortage throughout the year, supply difficulties, especially the center's inability to play the role of publicity and education, Zhang Lvping made up her mind to invest all her remaining property in 2001. Under the great pressure of debt, she built the city of Mentougou under the partial support of the international foundation for the protection of animals and the Royal Society for the prevention of cruelty to animals The new base of Xiaotangshan, the education center of human and animal environmental protection, was renamed the Science Popularization Center of human and animal environmental protection.

With the improvement and enrichment of people's living standards, there are more and more families with pets. However, the knowledge of scientific feeding and protection of small animals has not been popularized as it should be. A large number of small animals have been abused and abandoned. The publicity and education of small animal protection are becoming increasingly important. As the only non-profit non-governmental animal protection institution in Beijing and even in China, the center is facing greater challenges and responsibilities. The center hopes that with the care and support of all sectors of society, in addition to adopting and rescuing abandoned and abused small animals, it will carry out more animal environmental protection education activities to make the awareness of animal protection deeply rooted in the hearts of the people.

1. Small animal rescue, treatment and care

The basic function of the center is to provide or find more suitable living space for small animals in danger by rescuing and caring for them. The base will try its best to provide rescue, treatment and care for abandoned and homeless small animals, perform sterilization, vaccination and regular veterinary treatment for animals, and help animals find adoptive owners and new homes.

2. Publicity, education and training

Through holding lectures, setting up publicity display boards, opening columns in the media and holding special activities, the center carries out publicity and education activities on animal protection awareness and scientific animal feeding knowledge for the public, so as to make people establish the environmental protection awareness of protecting nature, caring for animals and respecting life, and create a safe and peaceful living space and atmosphere for the survival of animals .

3. Raising funds for animal protection

The center relies on the base, through appropriate ways and channels, under the supervision of authoritative departments, to raise funds for animal protection, and effectively use these funds to provide support for the development of animal protection.

Performance and impact

Over the past few years since the establishment of the center, with the unremitting efforts of Ms. Zhang Luping, the concern of people from all walks of life and the support of government departments, the center has received and rescued more than 400 abused and abandoned small animals, with more than 20 employees working on small animal care. Ms. Zhang Lu Ping personally held lectures in many colleges and universities to spread the idea and knowledge of animal protection. The concept of small animal protection has been understood and supported by more and more people.

Over the years, Zhang Luping has rescued more than 400 small animals, sterilized and vaccinated them, and provided daily care and treatment. These animals have all had tragic experiences. Some of them were cruelly gouged out of their eyes. Some of them were being skinned and eaten meat when they were rescued. With the careful treatment and assistance of Zhang Luping and her staff, they are far away from panic and disaster, and have obtained spiritual comfort. Some of them have been adopted by people who love animals and found a happy home.

2. Actively participate in the publicity of animal insurance

Ms. Zhang Luping believes that the work of animal protection is a huge and magnificent project, which can not be completed by a few people. Only by mobilizing the whole society to participate in it, continuously enhancing people's awareness of animal protection, improving people's quality of animal protection, and making animal protection work become people's conscious behavior, can we really do this work well. To this end, she led the center staff and a large number of volunteers to actively participate in various social animal insurance publicity activities, and strive to play their due role in the progress of the cause of animal insurance. On the basis of widely soliciting the opinions of the masses, she has participated in the discussion on animal insurance laws and regulations organized by relevant departments for many times, and actively contributed suggestions for the government's animal insurance work. Ms. Zhang Luping has been interviewed by domestic and foreign media for many times to publicize animal protection and has achieved good social effects. With the continuous improvement of the base, in order to make more visitors receive education, the center has designed and produced a sports protection exhibition board to publicize the concept of sports protection for visitors to read.
