Yinghua College
Ying Wa College is a middle school in Hong Kong. It is a traditional school for men. Founded in Malacca in 1818 by Morrison, a Scottish missionary, it moved to Hong Kong in 1843. The school is now managed by the Hong Kong Regional Council of the Christian Church of China. In 2008, it became a direct subsidy scheme secondary school. It is one of the 22 subsidized schools of the Hong Kong Subsidized Schools Council. The school is located in Changsha Bay, outside the Nanchang Station of the MTR. The school song, home of our youth, was written by Rupert Baldwin in 1938.

Yinghua college is a traditional boys' school with a long history in Hong Kong. It has contributed a lot to the education, missionary and publishing of Chinese and the communication between Chinese and Western cultures, including the publication of Hong Kong's first Chinese language newspaper "yiwanguanzhen" and the first translation of the thirteen classics into English. The original school was a classroom converted from a stable and taught by Chinese teachers. In 1818, Yinghua college officially opened. The school system was not strict. It was divided into three classes and bilingual teaching was implemented. Chinese students had no religious restrictions, and the school also provided accommodation and other living expenses. The college also set up grants for Chinese students, whose main purpose is to attract local overseas Chinese youth to enter the school, believe in Christianity, and then serve the missionary industry.
Yinghua academy is one of the earliest schools founded by missionaries in modern China. It was founded in Malacca in 1818 by the first Protestant missionaries, Morrison and Mirian.
In 1843, the Academy moved from Malacca to Hong Kong, and soon became a seminary to train missionary talents. The last president of the college was James Legge, a famous missionary in China. He was also a famous Sinologist. When he was the president of Yinghua college, he devoted himself to translating Chinese Confucian classics into English and published a large number of works, which were greatly welcomed by the West.

Malacca period
(1818-1843)
Yinghua college was founded by Morrison, a Scottish missionary from the London Missionary church. Its founder also included Mirian, the first president. At that time, the English name of the school was "Anglo Chinese College". In 1818, the foundation of Yinghua academy began to be built in Malacca, and the foundation stone was laid on November 11 of the same year, which is now designated as the school anniversary. In 1820, Yinghua Academy was built. In 1822, President Mi Lian died of illness and was taken over by hongfuli, who had studied in Yinghua Academy.
In 1833, the missionary Dale set up a steel mold and a bronze mold for casting Chinese movable type at the preaching stations in Malacca and Singapore, so as to cast metal movable type.
In 1839, James Legge, a British Scottish missionary and sinologist, took over as president.
In 1843, President James Legge moved Yinghua college and its affiliated printing factory to Hong Kong, including nearly 3900 Chinese movable type steel molds from Singapore.

In 1843, President James Legge moved Yinghua College from Malacca to Kendo, Hong Kong Island. In 1853, the first Chinese based newspaper in Hong Kong, yuan you Guan Zhen, was founded, which was printed and distributed by the Chinese typography printing house of Yinghua college.
In 1862, Wang Tao reported that there were three academies in Hong Kong at that time: Sheung Wan University academy, principal Shi an, Paul's Academy in central, principal song Mei, Yinghua Academy at the junction of Sheung Wan and central, and principal James Legge, "all of them had their children studying, teaching Western languages, cultivating talents for national use. Yinghua academy also has machine typesetting books. "
At that time, the Chinese movable type cast by Yinghua Academy was famous all over the world: the imperial envoy of Russia, the Paris society of France, the Singapore government, the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, the governor of Guangdong and Guangxi, Shanghai Daotai, the prime minister's Yamen of the Qing Dynasty, etc. all purchased the Chinese movable type cast by Yinghua academy, or a complete set of copper mold of movable type.
Apart from the Yinghua academy, the two academies mentioned just now still exist today.

In 1873, Yinghua College moved to its new address, Banshan banhan Road, central and western district. In the same year, President James Legge returned to his hometown in Scotland; Wang Tao bought the printing house at the former site of Yinghua college and founded the China Printing General Administration at 29 Hollywood Road; in 1874, he founded the world's first Chinese funded daily, circulation daily.

Social system
Yinghua college had a social system in the 1960s, but it was suspended for a time until it was resumed in 1991. The names of the five societies were named after those who had an important influence on the history of Yinghua college. They were Futang society, Liangfa society, Mirian society, Morrison society and newbaolu society.
Students are assigned to five clubs when they enter school. Each year, the five clubs will compete for the prizes in various competitions of literary talent (culture and music) and military strategy (Sports). The club with the highest total score will become the champion. Under this system, the competition is more intense, the participation of students is more enthusiastic, and the atmosphere in the school is more upsurge.
