Xie Xiaolou

Xie Xiaolou is located in Haizhou middle street. Now Haizhou public security branch hospital. It was built by Xie Xien in Haizhou in the early 1930s.

The building imitates the architectural style of Nordic dwellings. In the middle of the house, there are fireplaces and fire walls (interlayer) leading to the upper and lower rooms for heating in winter. The foundation of the building is high with three stone steps. The hall is wide and has four rooms on both sides. There is a corridor behind the main hall. There are opposite rooms on both sides. There are wooden stairs leading to the second floor. The rooms on both sides are divided from the corridor. The structure of the whole building is symmetrical, with bright lines, large inclined roof and large tiles. It is the first modern European style building in Haizhou. There is a garden in the front yard, with golden osmanthus and silver osmanthus planted on the left and right, iron railings on both sides, flowers and trees in the flower bed, and potted landscapes. A courtyard wall is built in the north and south, and a moon cave is built in the middle to separate the courtyard from the outside world.

After the construction of Lianyungang in 1935, in order to strengthen the construction leadership, the liaison office was moved from Nanjing to "Xie Xiaolou" in Haizhou, and the first public telephone in Haizhou was installed to connect with Nanjing.

After the founding of the people's Republic of China, "Xie Xiaolou" was assigned to Haizhou Public Security Bureau as office space. By 1990, the building was still well preserved, and it was a municipal cultural relic protection unit.
