Huangwacai Temple
Huangwacai temple is located in the east of the south entrance of beiluogu Lane in Beijing. Now only the main hall is left, facing south and three rooms wide. The God of wealth temple is a Taoist temple. The God of wealth can be divided into civil and martial arts, in which the civil is bi Gan and the martial arts is Zhao Gongming.
legend
The brief introduction of huangwacai Temple says: "according to folklore,... Yongzheng passed by this temple when he was Prince, and prayed for blessing to ascend the throne of God.". It is estimated that there will be no clear record of this view in the official history, because Prince Yong did not dare to tell anyone about this before Emperor Kangxi died. After becoming emperor, Emperor Yongzheng, who had a deep city, could not say everywhere: I became emperor after praying in this temple of God of wealth. But in any case, a small-scale Temple of the God of wealth, whose roof can be covered with bright yellow glazed tiles, must have something to do with prayer, and must have something to do with the royal family.
Emperor Yongzheng is the third emperor after the Qing Dynasty entered the pass. There are many legends about Emperor Yongzheng among the people. The most common one is to tamper with the imperial edict handed down by Emperor Kangxi. It is said that Emperor Yongzheng changed the word "ten" in the imperial edict to the word "Yu", so that the word "Chuan Wei Si Zi" in the imperial edict became "Chuan Wei Si Zi". In fact, it is not necessary for historians to verify this view. Even if we ordinary people think about it carefully, it is full of flaws. Before the simplification of Chinese characters, "Yu" was written as "Yu", so it is untenable to change "Shi" into "Yu". In addition, according to the practice of the Qing Dynasty, imperial edicts must be written in Manchu and Chinese characters. Chinese characters can be changed. How can Manchu be changed? In addition, the writing habit of the Qing Dynasty, where the prince is involved, must be written as "the fourth son of the emperor" and "the fourteenth son of the emperor". I have seen this practice in other royal archives, so the theory of "Yongzheng tampering with the imperial edict" is untenable. Even if Emperor Yongzheng really tampered with the imperial edict, he tampered with it by other means, not by the way mentioned above.
geographical position
About two or three hundred meters to the east of the drum tower in Beijing, there is a Hutong called beiluogu Lane in the north of the road. On the east side of the south entrance of beiluogu lane, there are three North Houses in the form of hard mountain architecture. Although the house is not big, the roof is made of bright yellow glazed tiles. There are five ridges, the main ridge has a kiss, and the four ridges have immortals and three beasts. It can be seen that although the buildings are not big, they are not small in origin. This building is the famous huangwacai Temple site in old Beijing.
Repair and opening
In August 2005, in the project of style protection and environmental improvement of Gulou East Street, the non cultural relics buildings around the temple of God of wealth were demolished, the main hall was illuminated and repaired, which became a highlight of the street.
evaluate
The East Gulou Street has been transformed, the environment has been improved, and the part of huangwacai temple that can be preserved has also been preserved. Whether Beijing residents or foreign tourists, there is another place to rest, enjoy and reminisce. Some believers can also pray in front of the temple and pray for God's blessing. Everyone is happy and the society is more harmonious. I hope that in the future, there will be no such thing as the chief's whim to turn the temple of God of wealth into another use and submerge it in the houses again.
