Notes
Dengjia garden was originally the first agricultural altar in Lanzhou in Qing Dynasty. According to the "brief history of dengyuan", during the period of the northern warlords, the provincial government auctioned off the xiannongtan as idle public property due to local financial difficulties. In 1922, the xiannongtan was purchased by Han Yanglu, the adjutant of Zhang Guangjian, the governor of Gansu Province, and turned into a private garden, named "Yangyuan". After Deng Baoshan was appointed director of Xi'an appeasement office in Gansu Province in 1932, his wife Cui Jinqin bought the garden from Han's descendants the following year, planted more flowers and trees, renovated rockery and turned it into a villa.
During the Anti Japanese War, Deng Baoshan was ordered to lend the garden to the fourth air force headquarters of the Kuomintang free of charge.
On June 30, 1941, when Japanese planes bombed Lanzhou, Cui Jinqin took two sons (Yunwen and Yunwu) and one daughter (QIANZI) to take refuge in the beishagou air raid shelter on the Yellow River. The air raid shelter collapsed and all four people died. Deng Baoshan was too busy to attend the funeral. His relatives and friends were asked to bury Mrs. Cui under a rockery in the garden. Later, Yu Youren visited the garden and wrote "loving garden" in calligraphy and wrote a poem. A plaque was made and hung at the gate of the garden. The garden was renamed "loving garden". The plaque of "loving garden" is still hanging above the main gate. On the east side of the main gate is the calligraphy of Qigong - "Deng garden".
After the founding of the people's Republic of China, the Gansu provincial government slightly renovated the garden to serve as the residence and office of governor Deng Baoshan. Deng Chengcheng, the son of Deng Baoshan and member of the ninth and tenth Standing Committee of the Chinese people's Political Consultative Conference, told reporters that since the 1960s, Deng Baoshan has dedicated his garden to the country three times. In 1982, Mr. Deng Baoshan's children donated the love garden to the country. In 1985, after the Gansu Provincial People's government invested in the renovation, it was changed into Deng garden, or Deng garden for short.
Deng Baoshan has received Deng Xiaoping, he long, Chen Yi, Mei Lanfang, Ye Shengtao and other party and state leaders and famous people in the park. Deng Xiaoping went to Deng yuan for the first time and sighed, "is this a hut! “
