Fuyang Normal University is an ordinary university of Anhui Province. It has been selected as the first batch of pilot projects for the reform of excellent agricultural and forestry talents education and training plan, the first batch of pilot units for the comprehensive reform of universities in Anhui Province, and the first batch of provincial entrepreneurship colleges in Anhui Province.

Based on the fast-growing class of Fuyang Normal University in 1956, the school has gone through the development stages of Fuyang middle school teachers' training school, Fuyang Special Normal College and Fuyang Branch of Anhui Normal University. In December 1978, the State Council approved the establishment of Fuyang Normal University and obtained the right to confer bachelor's degree. In 2013, it obtained the right to confer master's degree. In June 2019, it was renamed as Fuyang Normal University.

Historical evolution

Fuyang Teachers College

In 1956, the fast track course of Fuyang Normal University was opened, with Chinese and mathematics majors for two years and physics, chemistry and geography majors for one year.

In the autumn of 1957, the accelerated class of Normal University was renamed Fuyang middle school teachers' training school. Chinese and mathematics were merged into Hefei teachers' college. Among the students of one-year program, in addition to part of the work, physical and chemical subjects and history and geography subjects were set up. They planned to continue their studies for another year. Due to the anti rightist struggle, these students were assigned work during the winter vacation of 1958.

In September 1958, Fuyang middle school teachers' training school was transformed into Fuyang Teachers' College of Anhui Province, with Chinese, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, history and geography, and a two-year schooling.

In 1960, an accelerated political class was set up, and two preparatory classes were recruited from junior high school graduates. Later, they all transferred to Fuyang normal school in 1962.

In the spring of 1962, Fuyang Normal College changed its name to Fuyang middle school teachers training school. In the autumn of the same year, we began to recruit advanced students, majoring in Chinese, mathematics, foreign language, biochemistry and politics.

In the summer of 1963, the advanced students graduated ahead of time. Most of them were assigned to primary schools, and a small part of them were incorporated into Lu'an middle school teachers' advanced school and Provincial Institute of education.

In the autumn of 1964, the recruitment of advanced students was stopped, and the middle school administrative cadres and backbone teachers' rotation training classes were set up, with each period of two months; the agricultural middle school teachers' rotation training classes were set up, with each period of three months.

In 1965, a total of 284 teachers were recruited from the agricultural middle school. They majored in Chinese and Mathematics for one year. They were originally scheduled to graduate in the summer of 1966. Due to the "Cultural Revolution", they left school in 1968.

During the "Cultural Revolution", Fuyang middle school teachers' training school was forced to move down to the countryside and set up two middle schools in tanpeng commune and Gaotang commune of Linquan county. At that time, there were 99 teaching and administrative staff in the school. Except for 33 workers, the rest of them were transferred with the school. The school buildings, teaching aids, books and materials, instruments and equipment suffered losses.

In 1974, Fuyang Branch of Anhui Normal University was founded in the former site of Fuyang middle school teachers' training school, under the leadership of both the province and the prefecture. There are five departments and six majors in Chinese, foreign language, mathematics, physics and Chemistry (Physics, chemistry) and art (Fine Arts), as well as Marxism Leninism teaching and research section and physical education teaching and research section, which are responsible for the teaching of public politics and physical education. The sixth compilation group of Chinese dictionary in Anhui Province is located in Fuyang Branch, and some teachers of Chinese department take part in the full-time compilation work.

In 1974, 1975 and 1976, 401, 400 and 250 students were enrolled respectively, and the length of schooling was three years.

In 1977, the university enrollment system was reformed, and the unified examination enrollment method was restored. 390 students were enrolled in that year, 409 in the next year, 306 in 1979, and the length of schooling was four years.

At the end of 1978, with the approval of the State Council, Fuyang Branch of Anhui Normal University was expanded into Fuyang Normal University. The founding meeting of Fuyang Normal University was held on September 20, and September 20 was designated as the anniversary of the University.

On June 10, 2019, the Ministry of education agreed to change the name of Fuyang Normal University to Fuyang Normal University.
