Xifeng concentration camp site

Xifeng concentration camp is the largest and the highest level secret prison set up by the Kuomintang military Bureau during the Anti Japanese war. According to the old juntong, zhazidong is a primary school, baigongguan is a middle school, and Xifeng is a university. General Yang Hucheng and his family were also imprisoned in Xifeng concentration camp for eight years, including Xiao Botou, Huang Xiansheng and Ma Yinchu.

In the concentration camp, the old scenes of the barracks are restored, and many tools of torture, such as chains, bamboo sticks and soldering iron, can still be seen. Some old cars and motorcycles are still kept here. The cat cave on the hillside is a karst cave hidden under the ground. It is also a place to interrogate revolutionaries, because no matter what punishment is used here, the cry can not be heard. What's more cruel is that if new instruments of torture were invented at that time, the cat hole would become a place to test the quality of the instruments of torture, which shows the cruelty of Xifeng concentration camp.

Experience

In 1927, Chiang Kai Shek launched the "April 12" counter revolutionary coup, arrested many influential Communists and progressives, and imprisoned them in the Kuomintang's "military prison" in Nanjing.

After the July 7 Incident in 1937, the Japanese invaders invaded Nanjing on a large scale, and Nanjing was in danger. Chiang Kai Shek passively resisted Japan and actively fought against the Communist Party. He ordered the army to move these people to Wuhan, then Yiyang, Hunan, and finally Xifeng.

Xifeng concentration camp was established in November 1938 and abolished in July 1946. More than 1220 Communists and progressives were detained in the camp. Yang Hucheng, the Anti Japanese general, was detained here. Hundreds of revolutionaries gave their precious lives here for the cause of national liberation.

Xifeng concentration camp site, located 8 kilometers east of Xifeng County, there is a natural karst cave - Xuantian cave. The top of the cave is 15 meters high, 54 meters wide and 130 meters deep. The total area of the cave is 3400 square meters. There is only one path connecting with the outside world.

In front of the cave and in the cave, there are the Jade Emperor's hall, Sanqing palace, di Mu temple and other buildings built since Ming Dynasty. During the Anti Japanese War, Xuantian cave became one of the prisons of Xifeng concentration camp. From 1938 to 1946, anti Japanese patriotic general Yang Hucheng and his family members were secretly imprisoned in the cave and isolated from the world for nearly eight years.
