After the completion of the temple, a famous person was asked to write a military epitaph for it in order to get its words and flatter the guests. Some people are under the authority and dare not refuse, but it is not what they want to praise. So he wrote a book and said, "the five Taoist temples are also the gods of the five Taoism. People think the tree is in front of the temple. I think the temple is behind the tree. If so, please list your name. The eunuch didn't understand the meaning of the text. < I wudaomiao in laowei County
Wudao temple in laowei county (now Weifang, Shandong Province) is actually composed of two temples dedicated to different gods. Its official name is wudaotang, which is dedicated to Wudao generals, and Xianshi temple, which is dedicated to "Shifu". There is only a wall between the two temples, so the local people call wudaotang and Xianshi temple wudaomiao.
Wudaomiao is located at the intersection of five roads in the south of Southwest pass of laowei county. Today, wudaotang Lane in Weicheng district is named after wudaotang. Wudaomiao was originally located in the west of the intersection of Renmin Street, Aiguo road and wudaotang Lane in Weicheng district. Up to now, the street in front of Wudao temple still maintains the pattern leading to five directions.
Wudaotang and its gods
Wudaotang sits West to East and worships wudaogenerals. Five generals, commonly known as the God of Tao or the God of the road, belong to the native religion of our country, a god of Taoism. According to Taoism, the five generals are the gods subordinate to the great emperor Dongyue, who are in charge of life and death and honor of the world. General Wudao is very compassionate. He can help and help the weak to realize their ideals. He is a good man
A God with a sense of justice.
Before the end of Qing Dynasty, China's
There are five temples in many cities in China. There are two in laowei County alone. One is the wudaotang in southwest pass; the other is located in Dongcheng (Dongguan) of laowei county. There is no relevant record in this place, and only one wudaomiao street can provide circumstantial evidence.
When Weifang special city was established in 1948, wudaomiao street in Dongcheng was an ordinary city street with a north-south trend, a length of about 0.2 km and a width of about 3 m, starting from nanxiahe street in the South and yeting street in the North (now Dongfeng East Street in Kuiwen District). According to records, this street was named after the five Taoist temples. Wudaomiao street was cancelled in the early days of liberation and merged into nanxiahe street. In 1997, it was demolished as a whole. Its original site was in today's Gome Home appliance city in Kuiwen District. This is a small episode related to Wudao general in laowei county.
Wudao temples built all over the country are generally dedicated to Wudao generals. But in some places, in addition to the five generals, there are also five robber generals, commonly known as the God of robbers. After their death, Du Ping, Li Si, Ren an, Sun Li, Geng Yanzheng and others are still in their souls. In order to avoid theft, the people offered sacrifices to them and prayed for their mercy. General Wudao and general Wudai have the same pronunciation, only one word difference in name, but their meanings are quite different.
Wudaotang in laowei county was built in 1557, the 36th year of Jiajing reign of Ming Dynasty. It was built on the site of Guogong ancestral hall. Guogong ancestral hall is dedicated to guomenglin, the magistrate of Weixian county during the Zhengde period of Ming Dynasty (1506-1521). Wudaotang was rebuilt in 1612 (the 40th year of Wanli in Ming Dynasty) and 1675 (the 14th year of Kangxi in Qing Dynasty).
According to relevant literature and historical records, wudaotang Mountain Gate was built on a temple platform about one and a half meters high, and it was only after climbing more than ten stone steps that it could go up. The mountain gate is the scale of three houses. There are male and female soul divisions on the left and right sides of the mountain gate. The eight character temple wall is inlaid with stone tablets on both sides. On the door of the main hall of wudaotang, there is a horizontal plaque with the words "Shenwei Yuanzhen" on a blue background. The couplets on both sides of the hall door are "holding a sword to guard five roads and holding a steel whip to awe all sides". In the hall, there is a tall statue of five generals. The five generals hold a steel whip in one hand and support their knees in the other. They are brave and dignified. In front of the statue is a red robed civil servant with wat board in his hand; four statues stand on both sides, holding weapons such as swords and swords, glaring at each other. In front of the hall, there are bell tower, incense pool and four ancient pines, which block out the clouds and the sun. On the north side of the courtyard, a shrine for the emperor was built.
In case of funeral, local and surrounding people usually go to wudaotang for the ceremony of "delivering water" and "reporting Temple". People usually go to Baizi hall to pray for "early birth of a noble son". In addition, children are in a trance after being scared and can't return to normal. They may not find anything wrong when they go to the hospital. This situation is commonly known as "lost soul" in the local area, and the people are also used to asking the five generals for help. The method is to open your door in the dead of night, take nine pieces of yellow grass paper (one of which is written in vertical format with a brush) for memorial service to find a nearby intersection to burn, and then call your child to go home while reciting words, and touch the sick child's face and body at home. The special message is: "where can the wandering soul be preserved in the wilderness? Search for the road everywhere. There are five gods of the road. The wandering soul of the general has weight and spirit. I'll give you my orders as soon as you are in a hurry (nine nine characters in one stroke). It's said to work very well.
Xianshi temple and its gods
In fact, the reputation of Wudao temple in laowei county and its special influence on people's life mainly come from the Xianshi temple, which is just a wall away from Wudao temple.
Xianshi temple was built in the Daoguang period of Qing Dynasty (1821-1850). It was originally located at the north wall of Anle street in the west of laowei county.
When Weifang special city was established in 1948, the east section of Anle street was east-west, and the west section was north-south. It was an ordinary urban street about 0.28 km long and 4 m wide. It was named after "safe and happy", starting from Liangjia Lane in the East (now caojia Lane in Weicheng District) and Beima road in the north. In 1967, Anle Street took the meaning of "holding high the great red flag of Mao Zedong Thought" and changed its name to Hongqi Houxiang. In 1981, it was restored to its original name. In 1988, it was completely demolished and cancelled its name. The original site was in today's Shihuyuan community, Weicheng District. This is a small episode related to Xianshi temple in laowei county.
In 1922, Xianshi temple was moved to the south of wudaotang in Weixian County for reconstruction. The reconstructed Xianshi temple is located in the southwest of the original Xianshi temple in Anle street. There is a small gate in Xianshi temple which connects with wudaotang.
Xianshi temple is also a temple sitting in the west to the East, dedicated to the immortal master commonly known as "teacher father". From the historical records, we can not find out why the immortal master "teacher father" is a God. According to folklore, the "teacher's father" of the immortal master is the God of the iron beaver, fox or weasel.
