survey
Ji'ao and Yazhou to the West are eco-tourism resorts in Hong Kong, overlooking Yantian container terminal in Shenzhen. Since the late Ming Dynasty, the ancestors of the villagers moved southward and lived with mixed surnames. Because of the shape of the island in the shape of "Zhi", they formed a natural haven. Since then, most of them lived in fishermen's homes. From the 1950s to the 1960s, they were in their heyday. At that time, more than 4000 people lived together.
In 2006, there were still about 200 Hakkas and egg families living on the island with mixed surnames, but most of the younger generation moved out of the city. There is a lack of commercial activities on the island. At present, there is only one Yimin restaurant and a few Shiduo restaurants, but there are no hotels. The only school on the island, the Kat o public school, was closed in 2005, leaving only a few students.
The island is located at the boundary between Hong Kong and Shenzhen. Although it is not within the restricted area, the only ship going to and from the island needs to go ashore through Sha Tau Kok wharf, which is a restricted area of Hong Kong. Non indigenous residents usually charter ships from sanmenzai, Ma niaoshui and other places in Tai Po to go to the island for a short stay.
custom
The island started with fishing, and the residents believed that there were dragon veins crossing the island. Every 10 years, "Anlong Taiping Jiao" was held to keep the Dragon veins alive. According to the custom, two years before the festival, the residents throw cups at the queen of heaven and choose an auspicious day in September of the lunar calendar. After that, local people will choose a group of people to be the managers of the ceremony. They must have both husband and wife, three generations in the same room, and have children, daughters and grandchildren. After that, they will throw the cup to Tian Hou nine times. Whoever wins the most "cup of victory" (that is, one positive and one negative) will get the highest honor of "master of the list". According to him, there are also vice master of the list and top of the list.
During the ceremony, they will worship "Shanda" (Zhizha Guanyin), perform puppet shows and Shengong operas, and also hold the tour of Tian Hou, Taiping and Zhengda. On October 25, 2006, when ji'ao held the 24th session (230 years) for six days in a row, the residents raised as much as HK $7 million. In addition to the traditional ceremony, they also added dragon boat, karaoke, magic show, nostalgic golden melody, acrobatic performance, and set off fireworks on the island for the first time.
