In the history of goulanyao village in Lanxi, goulanyao people did not intermarry with the outside world. They were all men who were "door-to-door sons-in-law". Yao people live together according to their surnames. Each surname has its own gatehouse. The gatehouse is connected by wooden columns, which are all of three-layer structure. Under each wooden column, there are blue stone carvings, drum stones and Liang Fang carvings. The gatehouse is perpendicular to the main road, and there are 13 secondary roads. Each family name extends backward along the main road and the lanes set around the secondary road, forming a living pattern with blood as the main vein. Since the Tang Dynasty, five theatres and 66 temples have been built here, lasting for five dynasties. Yao village has more than 300 dwellings in Ming and Qing Dynasties, and social land, dance pavilions and singing platforms, pavilions and bridges can be seen everywhere. Among them, there are Panwang temple, Xianggong temple, Tiger Temple, Guangong temple and so on. These buildings are exquisitely shaped, with cornices and corners, carved beams and painted buildings, showing the wisdom of Yao craftsmen. All over the village, the blue stone roadway and the horse head wall around the house are colorful and colorful. Customs and traditions
GouLan Yao village has a unique martial arts tradition, especially the Yao women's boxing, men's knife dance and stick dance. In addition to the normal Festival, every festival, such as zhuniao Festival, Changxin Festival, Xini Festival, Zhongyuan Festival and Panwang Festival, must play and dance. During the festival, the Yao people of GouLan dance big drums and play Lusheng to celebrate together, or play dragon and lion dances, go from village to village, or even invite local troupes to sing for three days and three nights. These customs have been followed up to now.

① Ancient city wall series. Goulanyao was recruited by the imperial court in 1396. In order to guard the pass, nine stone gates and walls were built at the pass according to the mountain situation. There is a watchtower (similar to the beacon tower of the Great Wall) on the stone city gate, with alarm bells and a solid wood gate plate about 2 inches thick. It opens early and closes late, with iron bars as bolts. There are stone walls on both sides of the gate, two Zhang high and more than Zhang wide, which were completed in the Jiajing period of Ming Dynasty. The total length is about 2000 meters, and nearly 1000 meters still exist.
② Fengyuqiao series. There are also many pavilions on the water and main roads of Lanxi village, which are called Fengyu bridge or gallery bridge. There are six complete pavilions. They are exquisite, comfortable and beautiful, with wooden or stone benches for people to rest, forming a unique landscape of "there is a bridge on the water, a pavilion on the bridge, a well under the pavilion, and people beside the well".
③ Gujing series. Lanxi village is located in the mountains, with many ancient wells, which can be called a unique one in Hunan and Chu. In Lanxi, there are more than 100 large and small wells, and no less than 50 of them can provide drinking water for people and livestock, and can also raise a field. Among them, Puli well is the source of Lanxi, which is located beside the ancient stage of Shangcun village. The ancient well of Qingshui nunnery is located beside the altar of Dingtian temple, with ancient trees in the sky and quiet water.
④ Social circles. Social culture is a common phenomenon in Jiangyong County. In Lanxi village, there is a large-scale Dingtian Temple altar. Unfortunately, most of the "Guizai" (shegong) were smashed and lost in the "broken four old". There are nearly 10 existing "Guizai", among which the "king of shewang" is complete. A regular script "Wang" is engraved on the forehead, and the inscription "six years of Zhengde of Ming Dynasty" is on the side of the body.
⑤ Huang's ancestral hall. Every surname in Lanxi village has a ancestral hall, which is the temple of the clan. There are 13 existing ancestral halls in Lanxi village, among which the most representative is Huang's ancestral hall built in the Wanli period of Ming Dynasty. It is also the most prosperous business district in Lanxi village. On the side of the ancestral hall, there is the word "boundless waves of financial resources", which is the "Wangfujing" of Lanxi village.
⑥ Let Spring Lane, also known as he Jinshi square. Although Lanxi village is a Yao village, it does not refuse the Han civilization. It has set up academies, study rooms, Wenchang Pavilion and other educational places, with a prosperous literary style and a large number of talents. According to genealogical records, there were eight Jinshi in Lanxi village. There is an existing "rang Quan lane" archway, in front of which there is a "Bijian Yulong" wall. "Rang Quan lane" is 10 meters away from the pavilion at the end of the bridge. In the square, there are two Jinshi, He Wenbin and he Wencai, who have been officials outside and Yao leaders in the village. In front of rangquan lane, there is a well for Ganquan. The spring water is sweet and clear, which can be used for drinking by passers-by.
