Historical evolution

In 1951, "Wangcheng County" was separated from Changsha County and belongs to Xiangtan special district. The county government is located in Wangcheng slope in the north of Yuelu Mountain in the suburb of Changsha, so it is called "Wangcheng County".

In 1952, Wangcheng County government moved to gaotangling, and Wangchengpo returned to Tianding township.

In 1959, Wangcheng County was abolished and merged into Changsha County, and Wangchengpo was merged with it.

On December 21, 1977, Wangcheng County was restored to gaotangling and Wangchengpo was still under its jurisdiction.

On April 22, 1996, Wangchengpo was assigned to Yuelu District along with Tianding township (approved by the State Council, guohan 29).

In 1998, Wangchengpo was independent from Tianding Township and established Wangchengpo sub district office.
