Historical evolution
According to the judgment of archaeological experts, from the late Neolithic period 5000-6000 years ago to the Bronze Age 3000-4000 years ago, human beings lived and multiplied in Fenghuang ancient village.
In the middle and late Tang Dynasty, Fenghuang ancient village had formed a fixed small village,
In the Song Dynasty, there were five small villages in Fenghuang ancient village, which were called Lingxia village at that time.
In the first year of Deyou (1275) in the end of the Southern Song Dynasty, the army of the Yuan Dynasty moved southward. Wen Tianxiang was defeated and captured. The Wen family broke up and fled to the barren areas along the coast of Bao'an. Wen Bi, Wen Tianxiang's younger brother, and his family first lived in heziyuan, near the coast in the west of Songgang. Wen Yinglin, Wen Tianxiang's grandson, moved to Lingxia (Fenghuang) with his second son and some of his family members during the Dade period of the Yuan Dynasty to establish a village and breed.
In August 2000, the Shenzhen cultural relics survey team and the Luoyang archaeological team of Henan Province excavated and found a large number of ancient grinding stone tools, stonework wheels, a large number of sand containing pottery pieces and various grain shaped pottery pieces beside Fenghuang ancient village.
Architectural features
After the wenyinglin people moved to Fenghuang village, they unified the layout and style of houses, planned and built houses of Guangfu style in southern China, and formed a large-scale ancient Fenghuang village with many buildings.
There are woodcut animal and plant patterns in the buildings of Fenghuang ancient village. Whether it is a luxury house or a general residence, there are mascot like sculpture patterns on the top of the gate. There are three-dimensional sculpture patterns or murals from the upper part of the external wall to the lower part of the eaves, and most of the wooden eaves have woodcut patterns of people's stories or flowers and trees. In addition, the laneway of Fenghuang ancient village is quite unique, and the path paved with bluestone slabs runs through the whole village. In order to adapt to the hot climate in southern China, the height to width ratio of laneways in Fenghuang village is usually between 1.5:1 and 2:1, which makes most laneways in the shadow of buildings all day, and the dominant wind direction in summer forms cold laneways. Because of the "comb type layout", passers-by can only see rows of gables and village doors in the roadway, and can't see through the houses at a glance.

History and culture
historical figure
Fenghuang ancient village is the ancestral home and residence of Wen Tianxiang's descendants and clan. In the Southern Song Dynasty, when the yuan army went south, Wen Tianxiang was defeated and captured. On the way to escort him, he wrote down the eternal masterpiece of "who has never died since ancient times? Let's take the heart to shine on history". After the defeat of the song army, the Wen family fled to the desolate coastal area in the southwest of Bao'an. Wenbi, Wen Tianxiang's younger brother, and his descendants moved to Lingxia (now Fenghuang community) to settle down, set up a village, and propagated their offspring. After several generations of hard management, they formed the rudiment of Fenghuang ancient village.

protective measures
In November 2001, representatives of the descendants of "seven rooms" (including the Wen elders in Bao'an and Dongguan, the Wen clan association in Hong Kong, and Wen clan living abroad) reached a consensus to raise funds to repair the ancestral hall. In addition to maintaining the function of the ancestral hall, the repaired ancestral hall was also turned into "Wen Tianxiang Memorial Hall". In the square in front of the ancestral hall, a tall statue of Wen Tianxiang is set up. On both sides of the gate, a couplet of "song Tingzhu stone, the fragrance of the Confucian Temple" is set up. This couplet is engraved in gold on the two stone pillars in front of the main hall, which is the eternal masterpiece of Wen Tianxiang's crossing the ocean. On the left and right sides of the walls, one side is inlaid with "Zhengqi song" engraved with granite, and the other side is inlaid with the origin and development of Wen's "Qifang".
