In 1989, it was announced as a key cultural relics protection unit of Guangdong Province by the people's Government of Guangdong Province.
Development history
In 1601, Dalun, Jinshi District, ruanyong village, proposed to build this tower. One is to mourn the work of the turtle, and the other is the navigation mark of Xijiang River.
The tower is a seven storey, octagonal, pavilion style brick tower with a height of 32.3 meters. The first floor of the tower is 7.2 meters in diameter and 2.4 meters in inner diameter. Each floor was originally used as a building array, with a flat seat outside the tower (later rebuilt, the wooden floor was changed into a brick structure, and the wooden railings were changed into iron pipes), and the cornices of each floor were decorated with glazed tiles.
On the first floor of the tower, there were two stone Buddha statues, which were lost later. Over the past three hundred years, the Linggui pagoda has experienced a series of changes
The tower was damaged by lightning, wind and rain, and bombarded and shot during the Japanese invasion of China,
The sidewalks on each floor of the tower were damaged and on the verge of collapse.
Later, in 1984, the county government and compatriots from Hong Kong and Macao donated 136000 yuan to the ancient pagoda
Finally, the old pagoda was restored.
When many tourists come to lingguiding, they feel as if they are in the sky. The breeze blows on their faces, the white clouds brush their shoulders, and they have a panoramic view of the lotus city,
Overlooking the beautiful Xiqiao Mountain, overlooking the vast Xijiang River, it is refreshing.
In June 1989, it was announced as a key cultural relics protection unit of Guangdong Province by the people's Government of Guangdong Province.
In the Ming Dynasty, the Gaoming Jinshi Qu Dalun once wrote and praised the inscription on the pagoda of Guifeng
"Mount e'e'gui is located in Zhongchuan, where the pagoda potential gushes out and the pillar is in the sky.
Ying Xiang, Wei ziduoxian, Yi yizou Di, hundreds of millions of years. "
It vividly describes the mountain, tower and river.
The origin of the name
There is a beautiful legend about the origin of Linggui pagoda
A long time ago, poisonous snakes, beasts, and miasma were the three main problems in Xijiang area, which made the local people miserable.
The people prayed to God day and night for protection, and finally moved the turtle.
The tortoise went back to the river and used his magic power to dispel the miasma and subdue the poisonous snakes and beasts. From then on, the Xijiang River was in good weather and the people lived in peace,
However, because of exhaustion, the tortoise crawled to the side of Xijiang River and died,
Then it turns into a mountain, which is similar to the turtle in shape and forms Guifeng mountain.
In order to thank the tortoise for his kindness, people set up a shrine in every family. Later, Dalun of Jinshi District initiated the construction of this tower.
The Linggui pagoda has its own spirit.
It is said that a local boy once climbed the fifth floor and fell down from the tower without any damage.
