Beijing Arboretum

Arboretum is the largest specialized garden in Beijing Botanical Garden, covering an area of 44.9 hectares.

The arboretum is divided into six areas: Ginkgo pine and cypress area, Magnolia Berberis area, Paulownia ash area, maple rose area, Tilia poplar area, Platanus acerifolia and Quercus acutissima area. At present, more than 400 species and nearly 10000 trees have been planted. There are a large area of gentle slope lawn and garden plants from all over the country, as well as begonias, cherry blossoms, pines and cypresses, maple, etc. from foreign countries. It is a "paradise" in the botanical garden.

Zhongshan Arboretum

Located in the southern suburb of Zhongshan City, it covers an area of more than 1400 mu. At present, the first phase of the construction project with an investment of 29 million yuan has completed the collection of 92 families and more than 1200 kinds of tree specimens, and has initially built Mulan garden, systematic classification area, bamboo garden and other small parks. The completed infrastructure includes 15 km of Mountaineering Road, 8 km of mountain Ring Road, artificial lake and leisure square, etc. The second phase of the project will continue to improve the supporting facilities, the overall planning and construction of peach garden, camellia garden, Rhododendron Garden, bonsai garden and other special parks.

The arboretum is divided into 4 functional areas and 19 districts, including science popularization area, nursery demonstration area, ecological forest construction demonstration area and scientific research management area. The whole Arboretum is dominated by native tree species. In the demonstration area of local tree species, trees with Zhongshan characteristics will be widely planted, such as Agaricus officinalis, siyaomen flower, Huangtong, shuisong, etc. At present, there are more than 100 botanical gardens in China, including Arboretum and herbarium. However, the species of these botanical gardens are not mainly native tree species, let alone plant phylogeny. Therefore, the construction of Zhongshan arboretum will fill the gap in this aspect in China.
