Baiyun temple

Baiyun temple in Rongxian County, Zigong, is located about 24 kilometers west of Rongxian county. It is located in group 3, Gaowan village, Dujia town (the earth is called guapiao mountain). Guapiao mountain is the watershed between Minjiang River and Tuojiang River, 745 meters above sea level, close to 305 provincial road, and far away from Zhenwu mountain.

There is a temple at the top of guapiao mountain, called baiyun temple, which is a Buddhist temple. According to the plaque of baiyun temple, baiyun temple was built in the sixth year of Kaiyuan in Tang Dynasty (718 AD), with a history of more than 1200 years. During the Qing Dynasty, incense was very popular. It was repaired at the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China. There were some buildings in the temple, such as Daxiong hall, Guanyin Pavilion, Luohan hall, box room, etc., covering an area of about 13 mu. Religious activities stopped after liberation. In 1962, the County Forestry Bureau opened a forest farm in guapiao mountain. In the Republic of China, Sichuan warlords scuffled and damaged it. It was a pity that the temple was completely damaged during the "four old" period of the cultural revolution. From 1998 to 2000, initiated by monks, baiyun temple was restored with the strong support of the residents and believers. In order to meet the needs of religious people's normal religious life, Rongxian people's Government approved it as a place for religious activities in June 2003 (rongfuhan [2003] No. 79).

The whole stone pagoda is a rare stone carving art of Yuan Dynasty with fine carving and beautiful shape. It has high artistic value and is a key cultural relic protection unit at the provincial level. Ginkgo tree is located in front of the gate of baiyun temple, commonly known as Baiguoshu, also known as Gongsun tree. There are five trees in parallel, one behind the Buddha Hall in the temple, a total of six. For thousands of years, despite several wars and disasters, it still stands tall.
