Dahuajiao, there is a beautiful legend: a long time ago, the villagers around dahuajiao lived by fishing for generations, and Nanhai was their parents. One summer, the villagers toiled day and night in the sea, but they didn't even catch a small fish. At this time, two big turtles were playing in the South China Sea. The female turtle said to the male turtle, "there are no more small fish and shrimps in the sea. The villagers in this area are going to starve to death. Let's swim ashore to lay eggs and save the villagers who are struggling on the line of death. " With that, the two turtles went all the way to the shore. As soon as they climbed ashore, they saw the villagers lying on the beach in groups, dying. The kind-hearted female turtle keeps laying eggs in order to save the villagers. Finally, the villagers were able to live by eating turtle eggs, but the female turtle couldn't swim back to the South China Sea because she laid too many eggs. In order to express his loyal love for the female turtle, the male turtle would rather lie beside the female turtle, not eat or drink, and be his lifelong partner. As a result, the two turtles became what people call qiananling (xiongao peak) in the South and houanling (female peak) in the north. As time goes by and things change, the remaining turtle eggs eaten by villagers gradually harden and become the pebbles on today's dahuajiao beach.
