Evangelical Church
Evangelical Church (Church of Christ) is located in Qiaotou town, Dongguan City, Guangdong Province. It was founded in 1863 by American missionary shancaven as a mission center.
In 1900, the Boxer Movement was destroyed twice. In 1904, the American missionary sent John Fong to preside over the teaching affairs. In 1918, Peiying primary school was established in the name of the church, which lasted for 10 years. In 1921, Dongjiang Peidao Bible College was held, with more than 40 students. Later, all of them became the backbone of the church. During this period, there were more than 500 believers, most of whom were intellectuals. In 1958, the Guangdong three self patriotic Christian Movement Committee was established, and Shilong Christianity also resumed its activities. Pastor Li Jinru attended the people's Congress as a religious representative. During the "Cultural Revolution" period, it stopped activities and has been restored since 1981. It is one of the few existing Christian churches in Dongguan.

In 1898, the German priest Li Xuanchong established the Evangelical Church in Qiaotou Jingbei Xinwei village. Covering an area of 667 square meters, the building is concave shaped, with four camphor trees planted in the open space in the middle; the north side of the building has three and a half floors, the bottom floor is the basement, the second and third floors have four rooms in the middle, and the surrounding corridors run through; the northeast side of the building is a long corridor type building, with six two floors side by side, with office buildings, reception rooms and kitchens; the northwest side is a large auditorium and office, and the auditorium is the main place to carry out religious activities Place. The office is divided into a reception room and a sutra collection room. On the right side of the entrance is the bell tower. The bell can be heard for ten miles. In the northeast of Evangelical Church, there is a large garden of Western European style, with betel nut, Citi fir and other ornamental trees.
As early as 1892, two German priests, Li Xuanchong and Ji Naipan, were stationed in Qiaotou villages one after another to preach, and established preaching offices in Xiegang, Longtou, Qishi, etc. each place received 343 Baptists, 189 communion eaters, and more than 500 Taoist admirers. In 1895, Kunluo longyi, Jingbei Township, invited Wang Qianru and tie Wei, priests of the German Society of rites and sages from Dongguan Guancheng church, to preach in his hometown. At that time, about 100 people attended the sermon. After the Evangelical Church was built, all the believers around came here to carry out Christian activities.
In the early days of the people's Republic of China, Evangelical Church still carried out activities as usual. In the 1950s, the Evangelical Church was presided over by Mr. Su from Hengli and Mr. Ye Jiashan from Tangxia. Later, pan Xiaoxin, a female missionary in Dongguan Christian Church, was the head of the Evangelical Church. Pan Xiaoxin led Christians to pursue the principle of independence, self-reliance and self-management of the church, completely get rid of the control of western religion, take the "three self" road of autonomy, self-reliance and autobiography, and carry out religious activities. In 1962, the church was closed. During the cultural revolution, the church was changed to Jinglian primary school. In 1983, the government implemented the religious policy, which was presided over by Reverend Luo Gongmin. Liu Zhisheng, Su Dongan and ye chongze were responsible for recovering the religious property. On February 2, 1988, the church was rebuilt and religious activities resumed. In May 1995, the Evangelical Church was rebuilt. In the middle of the gate archway is a red cross, and there is a couplet written on the left and right: "state affairs, family affairs, church affairs, care about everything; singing, praying, reading, listening". On Sundays, Christians from far and near gather to hold a worship ceremony, with constant prayer and singing. On weekdays, there are short-term Bible study meetings, Bible study meetings, prayer meetings, holy poetry practice and singing activities, as well as regular "communion" and irregular "baptism". Every year at Easter and Christmas, the liturgy is particularly grand. In addition, some villagers nearby also hold wedding ceremonies in the church.

Since the establishment of Evangelical Church, there are more than 30 missionary teachers in the pastoral society. The well-known ones are Qu chongsan, Xie Zijie, Chen Yizhao, pan Zhishan, Luo Yanbin, Luo Dejie, Luo Jingrong, Wen Shaozhi, Su Zhinan, pan Xiaoxin, Liu Zhipeng, etc. Among them, pan Xiaoxin (1948-2000) was the longest member of the pastoral Association. She was a missionary and a midwife in Jingbei village. She was deeply loved by the villagers. She died on September 4, 2000 at the age of 93. In 1992, the Dongguan Christian Association sent Mo Shaoqing, a fresh graduate of Wuhan Theological Seminary, to preach in the Evangelical Church (from Dazhou village, Qiaotou town), and later transferred away.
