Historical evolution
Liujiao township was formerly known as "Liujia dianzhuang". It is said that during the reign of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty, there were six tenants who came here to reclaim land, so they called it Liujia dianzhuang. Later, because of the mispronunciation of "Jia" and "Jiao" in Minnan dialect, it was renamed "liujiao dianzhuang".
In the early days of the Japanese occupation, the township was divided into "wannei" and "liujiaodian", each of which was set up as a service station.
In 1920, the local system was reformed in Taiwan, and the village was set up in the abandoned area. The two districts of wannei and liujiaodian were called liujiaozhuang, which was under the management of Dongshi County in Tainan Prefecture.
In the early postwar period, liujiao Township, Dongshi District, Tainan County was set up.
In 1950, it was changed to Liujiao township of Jiayi county.
