There is a ditch between the East and west of shenquanbao on g109 national highway, and Shenquan bridge is built on this ditch. A few years ago, beside the Shenquan bridge, there were trees and flowing water under the bridge. At the east end of the bridge stood various stone tablets.
In the 1980s, there were still many springs in shagouli. The water kept flowing all the year round. The spring water was clear and sweet. Later, due to various reasons, there was no spring water, but the wetland could still be seen. Now it has dried up.
It is said that immortals often drink horses here. For the convenience of immortals, the local people built this bridge, named Shenquan bridge. The northwest corner of the bridge is the Laoye Temple group, while the southwest is the granny Temple group. On the eighth day of the fourth lunar month, people nearby take all kinds of clay dolls to the granny temple for incense. Those who have no children pray for a boy or a girl, while those who have children but are under 12 years old pray for their children to be healthy and safe. Granny temple was destroyed by the war, and now only the ruins are left. However, there are still many people burning watches and offering incense here on the eighth day of April. People still believe in the aura of Granny temple. This ancient custom has been completely inherited. It can be seen that at the beginning, it was a spiritual place to respond to every request.
Shenquan bridge spans the East and West ends of the ditch. The construction material of the bridge is local unique bluestone. The front and back span is about 50 meters and the height is about 30 meters. This stone arch bridge is composed of several arches. Each stone arch is carved with dovetail grooves, and then connected with dovetail to form an integral arch bridge. From a distance, it looks like a goose egg stuck in the ditch, and the animal head on the north side of the bridge is damaged. There is a small monument at the end of the bridge, which is a list of donors for the reconstruction and a monument of merit and virtue to preside over the reconstruction of the bridge. However, due to the long history and the baptism of war, there are still some man-made reasons that have disappeared. Only a few of the remaining steles were reused, and a canal was built at the end of the bridge. According to the records of these stone tablets, the bridge has a history of more than 500 years. Before the construction of the second-class highway bridge in the early 1980s, it was the only main road connecting the East and West forts, and even the only way to Hebei and Beijing. Judging from the records on the stele, this road used to be an official road, the only channel from Datong mansion to Xuanhua mansion to Beijing.
