Concept of Library Construction
Qingdao Shell Museum always adheres to the concept of "harmonious coexistence of human and nature". While fully displaying the collection, it enables the public to understand nature and further understand marine shellfish through visiting the museum. On the one hand, it awakens and improves people's awareness of ecological environment protection
On the other hand, it will build a broader platform for children's scientific popularization and shellfish research. The construction of the museum has attracted the attention of experts, scholars and relevant departments at home and abroad. Mr. He Jing, a famous Chinese shellfish scholar, Mr. Wan Xiaojun, President of Ocean University of China, Ocean University of China Press and China South China Sea Marine Protection Association, have successively provided assistance for the construction of the museum, which has enabled the smooth preparation for the construction of Qingdao Shell Museum. The children's shell foundation of Qingdao Shell Museum has also been widely supported by many shellfish lovers, providing a better humanistic environment and popular science teaching platform for the majority of young people who love shellfish biology.
At present, China's Shell Museum is in the growth stage. In Asia, there are more than 4000 kinds of shells in the Korean Shell Museum, more than 6000 kinds in the Japanese Shell Museum, and nearly 7000 kinds in the Philippine Shell Museum. At present, there are more than 4260 kinds of shells in our collection, and more than 4000 kinds are in the process of sorting out. By then, our collection will exceed 8000 kinds.
