Hainan Danzhou tropical botanical garden is located in Baodao new village, Nada Town, Danzhou City, Hainan Province. Covering an area of 32 hectares, it was established in 1958. It is a herbarium of the former South China Institute of tropical crops (renamed as South China Tropical Agricultural University in 1996) and the Chinese Academy of tropical Agricultural Sciences (abbreviated as the two academies of Tropical Agriculture). On August 14, 2007, South China University of tropical agriculture and Hainan University merged. Since then, the botanical garden has been assigned to the Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences. There are more than 1000 kinds of rare tropical plants introduced from more than 40 countries in the botanical garden. It is not only the treasure house of tropical plant resources in China, but also the epitome of tropical crop resources in the world.
Hainan Tropical Botanical Garden is a very important tropical crop research and education base, experimental and demonstration base and species gene bank in tropical areas of China. It fills the gap of Hainan sightseeing agriculture and eco-tourism, and becomes the key unit of tropical agriculture investigation in China.
Historical evolution
Xinglong Tropical Botanical Garden, located in Xinglong (18 ° 1 ′ n, 110 ° 13 ′ E), Southeast of Hainan Island, is affiliated to the Institute of tropical spice and beverage crops, Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences, Ministry of agriculture. It covers an area of 600 mu and was founded in 1957. The botanical garden is a typical tropical monsoon climate, with well-developed natural vegetation, beautiful scenery, lush green sea, birds singing, delicate fruit fragrance, refreshing the world, making people feel relaxed and happy, and forget to return.
In the 1980s, it has become a famous tourist attraction in Hainan. In 1985, French experts came to our Institute for technical exchanges with scientific and technological personnel.
In 1991, it was registered in the National Tourism Administration as a major tourist spot, and it is a designated tourism unit in Hainan Province.
In 1998, it was selected as China's famous scenic spot by four units including the National Tourism Association, and was also selected as Hainan's excellent tourist spot.
On January 15, 1998, Estonian speaker Thomas Savi led members of Parliament to visit the botanical garden.
Francesco francelli, Secretary General of the world tourism organization, visited Xinglong Tropical Botanical Garden on May 15, 1999, accompanied by Chen Chuanmin, director of Hainan Provincial Tourism Administration. We happily planted a bottle coconut in the botanical garden and named it "WTO".
On June 5, 2018, it was approved as a national 3A scenic spot.

Tourist area
Six tourist areas have been built: economic forest area, palm area, tropical fruit tree area, spices and medicinal materials area, ornamental flowers and trees area, woody oil area, and a garden of various rare plants. There are tropical "Guowang" mango, "guohou" Durian and cashew, one of the world's famous "four nuts"; there are also "human heart" fruit; rambutan with flesh spines on the skin; yolk fruit with flesh color and taste very similar to boiled egg yolk.
Economic forest area: ReZuo Liangyuan botanical garden not only has "famous trees" from all over the world: mahogany, mahogany, teak, sandalwood, red sandalwood, but also Hainan's native national protected endangered plants Qingmei, Polei, and even Hercules, which is stronger than water.

Antiaris toxicaria, also known as curculiaria and scissor tree, is an endangered plant protected by the state and one of the most poisonous plant species in the world. The sap is milky white and highly toxic. Once the fluid flows into the blood through the wound, it is life-threatening. The ancients often painted it on the arrow to shoot wild animals or fight. It is also known as curculiaria. It belongs to Moraceae and belongs to the genus Aristolochia. The height of the tree can reach 40 meters. It blooms in spring and summer, and bears red fruits like small pears in autumn. It turns purple black when it matures. The fruit tastes bitter, poisonous and inedible. It is distributed in India, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia and Indonesia. Sap is highly toxic and has cardiotonic effect. Rare species under second class national protection.
