brief introduction
The architectural design is characterized by the style of Han and Tang Dynasties, which changes the Ming and Qing Dynasties style mainly adopted by Confucius temples around the world. In this way, the planning and construction not only inherits the essence of Confucius Temple, but also combines with the actual bold innovation. Therefore, in terms of style, it is like Confucius Temple, but it is not Confucius Temple. In terms of function, Confucius school puts forward the idea of "learning and research", aiming at learning, spreading, exchanging and sharing traditional culture.
service function
"Most of the existing Confucian temples in China are mainly for sacrifice." According to the introduction, the Confucius School in Guiyang aims to "inherit and carry forward Confucianism as a holy temple, a base for edification and opening up new styles" in its functional orientation. It has six basic functions of edification, ritual, sacrifice, collection, research and tourism. In terms of construction scale, area and function, it can be rated as the first in China and the first in the world.
In the future, the six major service functions can not only meet the needs of citizens' moral education and minors' Ideological and moral education, but also allow citizens to sit here and talk, meet friends with literature, recite poems and write Fu, taste tea and play chess, travel and sightseeing, etc.
Architectural analysis
This Confucius school was written by Liu Zhaofeng, chief planner of Guizhou architectural design and Research Institute.
The architectural style of Confucius school has four characteristics
1. Follow the basic rules and regulations of Confucius Temple, keep the core elements as the basis, like Confucius Temple, but not Confucius Temple. The so-called "like Confucius Temple" means that it has the core elements of Confucius Temple, "but it is not Confucius Temple", which means that its sacrificial function is weakened and its learning and communication function is strengthened.
2. Combined with the regional culture of Guizhou, the Xiangxian temple and Yangming temple are set up to offer sacrifices to the famous Confucians in Guizhou. Local stone materials are widely used in building materials. The features of local civil architecture in Guizhou are selected, with gray, black and white as the main colors.
3. Conform to the mountain terrain: the main axis of Confucius school is located in the southwest and facing the northeast, with Wenshan in front, Huaxi River below, Dajiang mountain behind, and mountains and rivers beside. This is the natural landscape trend, not taking advantage of the plain area.
4. Bold innovation, self-contained: with the Han and Tang styles as the architectural features, it changes the Ming and Qing styles mainly adopted by Confucius temples around the world, mainly reflecting the visual magnificence and the cultural atmosphere of the Confucius era.
As early as 2010, Liu Zhaofeng had won the design right of the world bank loan project of Confucius and Mencius cultural heritage protection in Qufu and Zoucheng. He knew the culture and architectural style of Confucius Temple, Confucius Mansion and Confucius forest very well. Invited in 2011, Liu Zhaofeng participated in the design competition of Guiyang Confucius school. After much deliberation, Liu Zhaofeng and his team finally came up with the overall idea and scheme. Although this design scheme only won the second place in the competition due to one vote difference, Liu Zhaofeng and his team finally won the design right of Kong Xuetang because it is more in line with and close to the requirements of Guiyang city for this project.
"The final design is the ninth revised draft." Liu Zhaofeng said that his design concept is "Han and Tang magnanimous, modern expression", to highlight the humanistic spirit and culture of architecture.
According to Liu Zhaofeng, the architectural design of the Confucius school is characterized by the Han and Tang styles. It changes the Ming and Qing styles mainly adopted by Confucius temples around the world and mainly reflects the grand atmosphere of Chinese culture. The innovative layout based on the traditional well shaped layout of China presents the trend of "three-axis cross-linking" in one vertical and two horizontal direction.
The vertical axis, namely the "ritual axis", runs from northwest to Southeast, symbolizing the core ideas of Confucianism, namely "ritual" and "benevolence", starting from Lingxing gate, passing Dacheng gate, ritual square and Dacheng hall, and ending at Xingtan. There is a statue of Confucius in front of Dacheng gate, 9.28 meters high, to commemorate the birthday of Confucius; Dacheng hall is the core of the Confucius school, which is the central place for offering sacrifices to Confucius.
The two horizontal axes, namely "wind axis" and "row axis", are parallel from northeast to southwest. The "wind axis" symbolizes the Confucian practice of "governing the country and pacifying the world". On the left of the axis, there are lecture halls and Xishan academy, which are the main areas for future conferences and lectures. The "Xing axis" symbolizes the wisdom and practice of Confucianism. On the axis, there are Xiangxian temple, Yangming temple, Kuiwen Pavilion and other buildings. Xiangxian temple is dedicated to the celebrities of Guizhou, Yangming temple is dedicated to Wang Yangming, a great Confucian of Ming Dynasty, and Kuiwen Pavilion is a collection of Confucian cultural classics.
