It is the largest Sakya Monastery in Daocheng County.
There are many precious cultural relics such as Buddha statues, copper pagodas and thangkas in zalang temple. It is the only temple in Daocheng County that was not damaged during the cultural revolution. The reason is believed to be the result of the protection of Dharma protectors such as gagangbu and badinram. It is said that at the beginning of the cultural revolution, a rebel named engu carried a sledgehammer to smash the mud Bodhisattva in zalang temple. The first hammer did not respond, the second hammer still did not respond, and the third hammer smashed down. When he saw the mud Bodhisattva shed tears in his eyes, he smashed himself and ran back. Before he got home, his wife died of sudden illness. Later, another group of rebels from rural areas prepared to destroy the zalang temple. When they arrived near the temple, the leader saw a lot of people riding donkeys and horses on the roof walking around. They did not dare to enter the temple and withdrew.
There are more than 120 permanent monks in zhalang temple. These monks focus on practice. Except for doing things in the main hall, they all work hard in their own small rooms. They don't visit each other and seldom go out. Many monks have never been to any place except the county. The closing center of the temple can accommodate ten people to close at the same time. Monks take turns to close in the closing Center for three years, three months and three days. There is no merit box in zhalang temple, and there is no deliberate tourism development. It maintains the tradition of Tibetan Buddhist temple as a place for monks to practice and a spiritual home for the people.
