Qian xuesen library

Qian Xuesen library, located in Xuhui campus of Shanghai Jiaotong University, was opened to the outside world on December 11, 2011, the 100th anniversary of Qian Xuesen's birth. The library has a total land area of 9300 square meters, a total construction area of 8188 square meters, a ground floor, three floors above the ground, and an exhibition area of about 3000 square meters. The basic exhibition in the museum is divided into four parts: the founder of China's space industry, the pioneer of science and technology, the demeanor of people's scientists and the success of strategic scientists.

On February 21, 2014, Qian Xuesen library was awarded the advanced unit of Shanghai patriotism education base from 2012 to 2013.

brief introduction

Qian Xuesen library refers to the Qian Xuesen memorial hall built in Xuhui campus of Shanghai Jiaotong University. The basic exhibition in the museum is divided into four parts: the founder of China's space industry, the pioneer of science and technology, the demeanor of people's scientists and the success of strategic scientists. There are more than 76000 documents, manuscripts and books of Comrade Qian Xuesen, more than 1500 precious pictures and more than 700 physical objects. There are cultural facilities such as reference hall, special exhibition hall and academic exchange hall.

Qian Xuesen library is a national patriotic education demonstration base, and will be built into Qian Xuesen literature collection management center, academic thought research center, scientific achievements and noble spirit of the propaganda and display center.

The reason of building the Museum

Qian Xuesen is a brilliant model of Chinese intellectuals, an outstanding scientist at home and abroad, and the founder of China's aerospace industry. He has made outstanding contributions to China's and the world's science and technology, and won widespread praise at home and abroad.

In September 1929, Qian Xuesen took the second place in the Mechanical Engineering Department of Jiaotong University (then known as the Shanghai headquarters of Jiaotong University of the Ministry of Railways).

In 1934, Qian Xuesen graduated from school of mechanical engineering, Jiaotong University.

On December 16, 2001, Shanghai Jiaotong University held a forum to celebrate the 90th birthday of Qian Xuesen, a scientist of the people.

At the forum, Mr. Qian Xuesen's message to all teachers and students of his alma mater on his birthday on December 11 was read out: "I hope all teachers and students of Shanghai Jiaotong University will inherit and carry forward the fine tradition of his alma mater, love the motherland, advocate science, pursue truth, serve the people, and strive to build Shanghai Jiaotong University into a world-class university in the 21st century." At the same time, he also presented his Autographed "Qian Xuesen manuscript" to his alma mater.

In October 2005, with the approval of the Propaganda Department of the CPC Central Committee, Qian Xuesen library was established in Xuhui campus of Shanghai Jiaotong University, Qian Xuesen's alma mater.

Foundation laying and opening up

On the morning of June 6, 2010, the foundation laying ceremony of Qian Xuesen library was held in Xuhui campus of Shanghai Jiaotong University.

The moral of Library Construction

The overall architectural planning and design of Qian Xuesen library is headed by Professor He Jingtang, academician of Chinese Academy of engineering and designer of China Pavilion of World Expo. The library as a whole is an ochre red building with square tripod style, and the head of Qian Xuesen is embossed on the external wall. Using advanced technology, the designers completely rely on the different texture density of brick surface materials to express this relief, successfully using the "image" method to meet the memorial theme.

The architectural form of the library adopts the design concept of "earth feeling, rock breaking". On the one hand, the "square stone" implies Qian Lao's love for the motherland; on the other hand, the "split stone" bursts out the architectural space scene of the East 2A missile, implying Qian Lao's great cause of "two bombs and one satellite". The design scheme is an abstract expression of the image of wind eroded rock in Gobi, in which Qian Lao contributed all his life.

The function orientation of the Library: the most complete, systematic and comprehensive collection and safekeeping center of Qian Xuesen's literature at home and abroad; the publicity and Exhibition Center of Qian Xuesen's scientific achievements, academic spirit, noble morality and patriotic feelings; the research and exchange center of Qian Xuesen's scientific thought and scientific spirit.

According to Wu Dan, since the launch of the Qian Xuesen library project in 2005, the staff have followed Qian Xuesen's life trail and successively went to the secondary school affiliated to Beijing Normal University, University of science and technology of China, Tsinghua University, Massachusetts Institute of technology and California Institute of technology, Qian Xuesen's family, Chinese Academy of Sciences, PLA General Equipment Department, China Aerospace Science and technology group and other units to collect and collect cultural relics People interview. At present, there are more than 84000 pieces of literature, materials, objects, etc., and more than 15000 pieces are on display, including 350 pieces of precious literature, 200 photos, more than 100 pieces of objects, nearly 10000 newspaper cuttings (nearly 300 themes), more than 4000 books collected by Qian Xuesen during his lifetime, nearly 30 multimedia displays, 1 large-scale scene painting, and 2 Scene restoration. More than 100 documents and objects were published for the first time.

It is worth mentioning that the improved medium and short-range missile donated by the second artillery unit has been transported to Qian Xuesen library, which has been installed in place and become the treasure of the town library. Qian Xuesen's family donated nearly 20000 books, a large number of precious certificates, medals and manuscripts to Qian Xuesen library. China Aerospace Science and Technology Group donated a 1:1 model of Dongfanghong satellite and assisted in the production of Dongfeng series missile models. The General Armament Department of the Chinese people's Liberation Army has vigorously assisted in restoring the low-speed wind tunnel model in the museum.

Memorabilia

On December 11, 2011, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Qian Xuesen's birth, Qian Xuesen library opened in Shanghai Jiaotong University on December 11. Hu Jintao, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, President of the people's Republic of China and chairman of the Central Military Commission, gave important instructions on the completion and opening of Qian Xuesen library.

Li Changchun, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, attended the opening ceremony and visited the exhibition of Qian Xuesen's deeds.

On February 6, 2012, after learning the news of the death of Professor Jiang Ying, Qian Xuesen's wife, the main construction staff and student volunteers of Qian Xuesen library held a memorial meeting to express their deep memory for Professor Jiang Ying.

In November 2012, Qian Xuesen Library of Shanghai Jiaotong University was selected as the national popular science education base in 2012, which is another national base after the national patriotic education demonstration base.

From its opening in December 2011 to the end of December 2012, Qian Xuesen library has received 265000 visitors, including 158000 young visitors, accounting for 59.7% of the total number of visitors. Qian Guan has been selected as the national patriotism education demonstration base, the national popular science education base and the Shanghai patriotism education base.

In 2013, Qian Xuesen Library of Shanghai Jiaotong University won the first gold award of 2012 China Architectural Design Award (architectural creation).

On the morning of May 18, 2013, the exhibition of "sounds of nature in art and science: the deeds of Jiang Ying and Qian Xuesen" sponsored by Qian Xuesen Library of Shanghai Jiaotong University opened in Qian Xuesen Library of Xuhui campus of Jiaotong University.

On December 13, 2013, head coaches Liu Guoliang, Kong Linghui and leader Huang Biao of the Chinese table tennis team led the main players to visit the old library of Shanghai Jiaotong University and Qian Xuesen library. The team also presented a flower basket to the bronze statue of Qian Xuesen.

During the Spring Festival in 2014, Qian Xuesen Library of Shanghai Jiaotong University has been open to the public since February 2 (the third day of the Lunar New Year). On the opening day, the theme activity of "Money Museum in the year of the horse" was launched, attracting many tourists to participate. It is reported that the theme activity of "Money Museum in the new year of the horse" will last until February 28.
