Fujian museum is located in the West Lake Park of Fuzhou City. It was founded in 1933 and was formerly known as Fujian Provincial Science Museum. Fujian Provincial Museum was established in 1953. The total investment of the whole building is 270 million yuan, including one underground floor and three above ground floors. Fujian museum is a national first-class Museum, with a collection of nearly 170000 cultural relics and natural specimens, including more than 30000 precious cultural relics.
Historical evolution
In the spring of 1933 (the 22nd year of the Republic of China), the Committee of Fujian provincial government decided to set up the Fujian Provincial Science Museum. After the recommendation of Zheng Zhenwen, director of the Department of education at that time, Huang Kaisheng was appointed director of the science museum in November. The museum has set up physical, chemical, biological and other departments, as well as a meteorological observatory to forecast the daily weather of Fuzhou.
In the early 1950s, it was renamed Fujian people's Science Museum. Fujian Provincial Museum was established in April 1953. After Fujian Provincial Museum was established, Fujian people's science museum was canceled and the animal specimens were transferred to Fujian Provincial Museum. Later, Fujian Provincial Museum received the revolutionary and historical relics collected since the establishment of the provincial cultural relics management committee, and gradually developed into the largest comprehensive museum in the province.
It was rebuilt on the original site in March 2000. It covers an area of 89 mu, with a construction area of 35800 square meters and a total investment of 270 million yuan. It is the most grand cultural infrastructure construction project in Fujian history.
In October 2002, the new museum was completed and opened to the public.

The light of Fujian Ancient Civilization
This exhibition completely shows the development of Fujian from ancient times to the Opium War, from which people can feel the light of civilization in the depth of history. Fujian's history began from the dark and ignorant caves to the simple and unsophisticated years when people from Fujian and Vietnam sailed in boats and sang songs. It combined the wisdom and diligence of immigrants from the Central Plains. In the song and Yuan Dynasties, all kinds of businesses flourished and merchants gathered. It became a "coastal Zou Lu" where the humanities flourished. Until the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Zheng He, Zheng Chenggong and other sea heroes wrote history here.

Fujian Ancient export porcelain

This exhibition is located in jicuiyuan Art Museum. Located in Fujian Museum between West Lake Park and Zuohai Park, Fujian jicuiyuan Art Museum, which was completed on January 2, 1993, mainly collects, displays and studies precious paintings and calligraphy donated by Chen Ying and Jin Lan, and also deals with the identification, collection, protection, restoration, research, exchange and exhibition of ancient and modern paintings and calligraphy. It also has extensive contacts with artists and collectors.
