No.1 Yiyuan street is a Russian private house built in 1919. Its owner is a Polish Jewish timber merchant. It is said that the building was planned and designed by Italian architects. The main building adopts the elements of classical architecture and Baroque architecture, with exquisite appearance and exquisite internal facilities.
Design process
Many picturesque buildings are of Italian style, with irregular layout and stone facing for most of the walls. There is a landmark main building with distinct layers, with attic on the top and semi basement on the bottom, decorated with Corinthian huge pilasters to enhance the vertical division of walls, giving people a kind of luxurious momentum. The dormer windows in the attic protrude from the sloping walls, making the eaves full of variety. In order to meet the needs of private housing, there is a semicircle hall and terrace on the south side of the building, which adds romantic atmosphere.
In particular, the garden environment, with outdoor fountains, flowers and trees, constitutes a landscape architecture. Although nearly one hundred years have passed, today we can still feel the poetic and picturesque charm integrated with nature.
Spreading history
This private house was once the residence of the Manchurian Railway Council during the period of the Japanese puppet regime. In the 10th year of Showa in Japan, Prince Chongren, the younger brother of emperor Showa, came to Kazakhstan and "yulinxing" was there. In the eighth year of Kant's reign, Puyi, the puppet Manchu emperor, also stayed in this building when he was hunting in northern Manchu.
After the victory of the Anti Japanese War, on October 31, 1945, in order to smash the Kuomintang's attempt to "destroy the people's revolutionary forces led by the CPC and monopolize the northeast", the CPC Central Committee established the Northeast People's autonomous army, with Lin Biao as commander in chief, Peng Zhen as the first political commissar and Luo Ronghuan as the second political commissar. The headquarters of the autonomous army is located at No. 1, Yiyuan street. On November 14 of the same year, the Northeast People's autonomous army was renamed the Northeast Democratic United Army, but the headquarters did not change.
In 1946, it became the reception of Songjiang provincial Party committee and Harbin municipal Party committee.
On February 27, 1950, when Chairman Mao Zedong visited Harbin, he once lived here, and happily wrote inscriptions for the provincial and municipal Party committees on the second floor, such as "don't be contaminated with bureaucratic style", "study", "struggle" and so on. Since then, No.1 building of Yiyuan street has been set up as the memorial hall for Chairman Mao Zedong's inspection of Heilongjiang Province (now the memorial hall for revolutionary leaders' inspection of Heilongjiang Province). In addition, Zhou Enlai, Liu Shaoqi, Zhu De, Song Qingling and other party and state leaders also stayed here.
