It was the Second District in 1949. In 1950, it was changed into the Sixth District, and later renamed Yesanguan district. In 1958, it belonged to Yesanguan commune, Miantang commune and Gulou commune Yesanguan district was established in 1984, and Yesanguan Town, mamiantang Township and Gulou Township were established in 1988.

Yesanguan
It is an ancient town with a long history and culture. As early as the Qin and Han Dynasties, Ba people formed a stable activity area here. When Kou Zhun, the Prime Minister of the Northern Song Dynasty, was the magistrate of Badong County, he once advised the farmers to abandon hunting and cultivate here. During the great revolution, marshal he long led his troops through here twice to punish local tyrants and open warehouses to help the poor. After liberation, Hu Yaobang, Zhao Ziyang, Qiao Shi, Hu Jintao and other party and state leaders successively inspected Yesanguan to persuade people to work and do business. In 1992, Yesanguan was included in the series of famous villages and towns in China. Xinhua News Agency's 2131 issue of "domestic dynamic sample" is known as the "night pearl of deep mountains and wild mountains". In 1999, it was awarded the provincial civilized township of Hubei Province.
