Ximatan

Ximatan is located at the junction of Yuju peak and Longquan peak of Cangshan Mountain, with an altitude of 3920 meters, known as the "lake on the top of the mountain". The mountains around ximatan are covered with Rhododendron shrubbery in the shape of dragon, while the hillside below the pool is covered with tall and straight Alpine fir forest belt and bamboo forest belt. At the turn of spring and summer, Rhododendron is in full bloom, and the lakeside is as colorful as clouds. Looking down from the top of the mountain, one side is lined with black and blue fir and fresh green bamboos, and the other side is lined with mottled blue and gray rock peak and stone screen. The 100 meter square ximatan looks like a sky falling from the top of the head. Beside the streams and grass slopes, there are clusters of pink and purple primroses, light yellow wild white flowers and colorful dragon claw flowers, which make it a high mountain colorful garden.

Introduction

According to legend, when Kublai Khan of the Yuan Dynasty was in Dali, he led his troops over Cangshan Mountain and stationed here to wash horses. Therefore, the name of the wash horse pool came from it.

According to historical records, ximatan, known as "Gaohe" in ancient times, was a water conservancy engineering facility during Nanzhao period. During the Fengyou reign of Nanzhao, the king of Nanzhao sent General Sheng Jun to build the high mountain reservoir here to guide the spring to irrigate the farmland. Up to now, there are still ancient engineering relics around the lake and in the nearby mountains. At the turn of spring and summer, rhododendrons are in full bloom in ximatan, and the lake is as colorful as clouds.

Black dragon lives in the hot spring west of Xiaguan in spring and summer, and in ximatan in autumn and winter. Therefore, ximatan is also known as "dragon pool". Some people will say that the water in ximatan is black, which is related to the black dragon's residence. Careful observation shows that the bottom and surrounding areas of ximatan are paved with very thin bluish black stone slabs, which is obviously not natural, but artificial. According to historical records, ximatan, known as "Gaohe" in ancient times, was a water conservancy engineering facility in Nanzhao period. There is also a kind of wild vegetable with purplish red stem and emerald green leaves, which is named "Gaohe vegetable" because of the ancient name "Gaohe" in ximatan. The pickled Gaohe dish is pungent and refreshing. It has the pharmacological effects of appetizing, invigorating the spleen and clearing the spirit. It is said that this kind of dish is only available in the area of ximatan, Cangshan.

Walking from ximatan to the top of the mountain, you can see the mountains, rivers and rural villages in Yangbi county to the West; to the East, you can see several mountains rising like streams, among which Jizu mountain stands; to the north, you can see the snow of Yulong Snow Mountain, which is really an ideal place for tourists to enjoy the plateau scenery.
