Qingshan Reservoir in Chongyang, Hubei Province, is located in Qingshan Town, 10 kilometers southwest of Chongyang County. The construction of Qingshan Reservoir started at the end of 1967 and was basically completed in 1973. The dam is 127.5 meters high, 507 meters long and 60 meters wide, with a rainfall bearing area of 441 square kilometers, a total storage capacity of 448 million cubic meters, an average annual inflow of 372 million cubic meters and an average water surface of 18 square kilometers. It has comprehensive effects of flood control, power generation, irrigation, shipping and breeding.
The reservoir area has beautiful scenery, including coffin mountain, Daquan cave, Guyan cave and other scenic spots.
Qingshan Reservoir is a large-scale water conservancy project in China and a large-scale backbone water conservancy and electric power project in Chongyang.
Qingshan Reservoir is located in the middle reaches of Qingshan River, the main tributary on the right bank of junshui, 1.3km south of Qingshanpu and 2.9km northwest of the main peak of coffin mountain. The main dam spans between Panshan and gejiachai. It is named because it is located under qingshanyan.
