Construction process
With the deepening of reform and opening up, the economic and social exchanges between Shenzhen and Hong Kong have become increasingly close. In the early 1990s, the idea of building the Western Corridor had been put forward. The Shenzhen Bay Bridge (also known as the Shenzhen Bay Highway Bridge) was jointly invested by the two governments for free passage.
From September to November 2001, the consulting units of Shenzhen and Hong Kong held several technical coordination meetings on Shenzhen Bay Bridge to reach a consensus on bridge design.
On December 6, 2002, the State Council of China approved the feasibility study report of Shenzhen Hong Kong Western Corridor project and agreed to build Shenzhen Bay Bridge.
On August 28, 2003, the construction of Shenzhen Bay Bridge started.
On January 20, 2006, the closure of Shenzhen Bay Bridge was completed.
On July 1, 2007, Shenzhen Bay Bridge was completed and opened to traffic.
On February 15, 2019, during the routine inspection of the Hong Kong highways department the day before yesterday, it was found that one of the six "external prestressed steel cables" in the Shenzhen Bay Bridge was broken, and the broken steel cables need to be replaced in three weeks.
Bridge location
Shenzhen Bay Bridge is located in the East Bay of Lingdingyang and Pearl River Estuary,
It starts from the South Bank of dongjiaotou, Shenzhen in the north and ends at aoqueshi, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in the south.
Shenzhen Bay Bridge is an important part of Shenzhen Hong Kong Western Corridor, connecting Shenzhen Bay Port in the north, Shenzhen Bay crossing and Hong Kong Route 10 in the south.
Architectural design
building structure
Shenzhen Bay Bridge is composed of navigable viaduct, non navigable viaduct and interchange. The whole bridge section is roughly arranged in the north-south direction. The navigation span bridge adopts inclined single tower single cable plane steel box girder cable-stayed bridge, the steel box girder adopts inverted ladder box shape, which is consistent with the shape of non navigation span concrete box girder; the tower and pier girder are fixed into a system, and the tower column adopts concrete box structure; the side span and middle span stay cables are arranged asymmetrically, and the main span load is balanced by the self weight of the tower body, so there is a large range of non cable area, and the cable surface shows light refraction It's like a visual effect. The non navigable span bridge adopts equal span and equal section prestressed concrete continuous beam, which is divided into two parts. A continuous beam with variable width is used at the junction of Haizhong interchange and navigable span bridge, and prestressed concrete continuous beam is used in other ramp bridges.
The Shenzhen side single pylon cable-stayed bridge tower of Shenzhen Bay Bridge adopts the inclined pylon inclined to the Hong Kong side, which corresponds to the inclined pylon of the Hong Kong side cable-stayed bridge leaning to the Shenzhen side, implying that Shenzhen and Hong Kong go hand in hand; the shape of the bridge is like a sailing boat ready to sail, as well as the fighting image of rowers.
The cross-section of the single column leaning tower adopts the polygon with clear edges and corners, and the shape is like a unique sculpture. In order to improve the driving conditions and increase the landscape effect of the bridge, the S-shaped bridge axis plane is adopted.
Although Shenzhen Bay Bridge is jointly invested by the governments of Shenzhen and Hong Kong, Shenzhen and Hong Kong have strict and unified technical standards in terms of bridge deck width, lane width, pavement cross slope and so on. Therefore, the bridge is actually a whole, the connecting part has no trace, and the external shape is completely consistent with the bridge structure.
Design parameters
The Shenzhen Bay Bridge is 5545m in length, including 2040m in Shenzhen section and 3505m in Hong Kong Section, with a deck width of 33.1m. There are two navigable bridges in the north and south of the bridge, with main spans of 210m and 180m respectively. North channel bridge adopts "180m + 90m + 75m" span layout; main girder adopts bolt welded streamlined steel box girder, with beam height of 4.12m, standard section length of 12M, and full width of 38.6m; total height of cable tower is 139.053m; there are 45 foundation piles, 49 foundation piles of main tower, with pile diameter of 220cm; bearing platform is circular bearing platform, with thickness of 5m; there are 24 high-strength low relaxation parallel steel wires with diameter of 7mm, wrapped with double-layer PE sheathed finished cable.
Equipment and facilities
Lighting equipment
In addition to street lighting, Shenzhen Bay Bridge is decorated with gorgeous lights to match special festivals. The choice of scattered light for landscape lighting can produce a dreamlike scene, set off the magnificent shape of the bridge, and reflect the panorama and characteristics of the bridge to the greatest extent.
Environmental protection facilities
The road of Shenzhen Bay Bridge is designed with sound absorption, shock absorption, dust absorption and automatic cleaning, and equipped with sound insulation board and sound insulation wall; tall trees are planted around the port (supervision area) to form a 50-100 m wide green belt; an artificial river with a width of 50-100 m and a length of nearly 2000 m is built on the west side of the port to absorb vibration through the water body; the stay cables of the bridge are silver gray to prevent birds from bumping; and the drainage system is adopted The sewage from the bridge deck is discharged into the sea to avoid affecting the organisms in the shoal; the Shenzhen side connecting line is equipped with fire control, communication, noise control, structural health monitoring and pavement anti-skid systems.
Operation
Ticket price
Shenzhen and Hong Kong have reached a consensus that the western corridor is "bounded by the boundary line between Guangdong and Hong Kong, with their own investment, joint construction, respective ownership and respective management"; the construction of Shenzhen Bay Bridge is jointly invested by the governments of both sides, and no vehicle toll will be charged after it is completed and put into use.
Shenzhen Bay Bridge is a cross-border bridge, which needs to pass the border inspection at Shenzhen and Hong Kong ports.
traffic flow
As of July 12, 2007, the number of people crossing the Shenzhen Bay Bridge was 230537, and the total number of entry-exit vehicles was 13728.
Construction achievements
Technical difficulties
The Shenzhen Bay Bridge project is mainly operated on the sea. Only one bridge can be erected a day. It takes more than one hour to rise from the sea level to the bridge deck. The gap error of the bridge is between 5mm, and it is successfully hoisted at one time. Interchange is a rare offshore construction project in China. The main construction is bridge support and cast-in-place concrete. In addition, the project is in a "bend, slope and skew" angle, so the construction is very difficult. Because many projects have to be operated on the sea floor, the resistance in the process of transporting materials is large; the service life of the bridge is 120 years, so the technical requirements for the operation process are high.
In the superstructure engineering of non navigable span bridge, builders have overcome many technical problems, such as prefabrication of large-span and equal section box girder, cantilever alignment, gluing and vacuum grouting.
The main technical features and innovations of Shenzhen Bay Bridge project include: putting forward the construction scheme of balanced operation of cable tower construction and stiffening beam installation of inclined tower cable-stayed bridge, reducing construction auxiliary facilities and construction cost; successfully using inverted trapezoidal section steel box girder as stiffening beam of long-span cable-stayed bridge, realizing the consolidation of concrete tower and steel box girder, and using fully welded thick plate as anchorage on cable-stayed beam The bridge deck crane cantilever symmetrical splicing technology is adopted for the non navigable span bridge; the new deck steel guardrail is designed and developed; the intelligent bridge health monitoring system is developed and implemented.
