Guling street theatre

The small theater was built in 1906. It is the only performing public place in Taiwan that is planned to be an avant-garde theater. It has three floors. The window frames of the theater are very beautiful, and there are often some special performances.

Guling street theatre

Located in Taipei's Zhongzheng District, Guling street theater was built in 1906. It has three floors: the first floor is equipped with a service desk, a cultural propaganda area and an experimental theater; the second floor is equipped with a conference room, an audio-visual room and an art and cultural space; and the third floor is equipped with a rehearsal room. It is the only performing public place in Taiwan that is planned to be an avant-garde theater. It is also the first site in Taipei to promote the reuse of unused space, transform it into art and cultural space, and commission it to private management. Since the opening of the small theater in 2002, more than 100 activities have been planned, involving more than 8000 users.

Architectural history

It was built in 1906 in baroque style. During the Japanese occupation period, it was a Japanese military police unit. After the war, it was changed into the criminal section of the Taipei municipal government police station. In 1958, it was converted into a Japanese brick building and became the second branch of the Taipei municipal government's police station. In 1995, the second branch moved away and the building was handed over to the Information Department of the Taipei municipal government.

History of Little Theatre

Chen Meimao, Jiang Shifang and Hong Hong set up a "small theater alliance" to strive for the use of the site as a small theater. In 1997, the Taipei information office was responsible for planning a small theater exhibition space.

In 1999, the Cultural Bureau of Taipei municipal government was established, and the small theater was transferred to the Cultural Bureau. In 2001, the "small theater of Zhongzheng Second Bureau" was set up, and the operation and management unit was officially selected. From 2001 to June 2005, Zhao Ziqiang was responsible for the operation and management of Ruo children's theater, and the "small theater of Zhongzheng No.2 sub bureau" was renamed "Guling street small theater". In March 2002, Guling street theater was officially opened to the public. Since July 2005, it has been co-ordinated by Wang Mo Lin's body meteorological Museum, and its planning and operation have been carried out by the theater's operation and management office.

Site introduction

appearance

After the reconstruction and expansion in 1954, most of the exterior lines and main internal structures of the building are preserved in this period. The whole hall is divided into two building combination forms. The front building is a two-story building made of Japanese brick, the first floor is the hall and public space, and the second floor is the art space; the back building is a three-story building, and the first to third floors are mainly divided into: experimental theater, administrative office and rehearsal field.

First floor area

[service desk]

The service desk is located on the right side of the gate, with "Performance Technology Department" and "performance duty room" to provide the most real-time services for the public and users. In addition, there is a two hall ticketing system, which can be available / purchased from 12:00 to 20:00 from Tuesday to Sunday.

[rest area]

During the opening period, the public can have a rest and read the art and cultural information. During the performance, the audience can have a rest before the performance. There are male and female toilets and barrier free toilets.

[exhibition area]

The exhibition area of the hall is equipped with DM cabinet, small theater display cabinet, floor billboard, art magazine area, etc., providing the latest news of various art and cultural activities, small theater books, commemorative goods, etc., which can be read or purchased by yourself.

[group ticket]

The ticket gate of the performance group is located on the left side of the gate, which is provided for the performance group as the ticket gate and the service counter. The ticket gate is a movable counter with wheels attached, and a folding table can be added according to the demand.

[detention room]

The predecessor of Guling street theater was the second branch of Taipei police station, which was the detention room in the era of the branch. Because of its interesting and commemorative nature, it is still preserved after being converted into a theater. It can be used as an independent installation art space, or provide a more interesting and diverse performance space for experimental theater performance creators. [experimental theater]

This is the main performance space in the museum. It is the birthplace of Taiwan's performing arts and can accommodate about 100 people. There are three "detention rooms", actor dressing rooms and bathroom facilities left behind by the Japanese occupation. The space of the theatre is about 40 square meters. The auditorium is a 9-seat mobile platform, which can be arranged in different forms according to the performance requirements. In addition, it is equipped with nearly 100 theater professional lights, stereo sound, two electric lifting poles and fixed light poles for hanging lights, setting and other effects.

Second floor area

[art and culture space]

With nearly 30 Ping of indoor space, the ancient doors and windows along the street and the adjacent garden terrace retain the elegant flavor of historical buildings. At present, it has gradually become an important new exhibition site in the museum, which can accommodate about 40 people, with a number of equipment to provide group layout needs. It is to hold art and cultural tea parties, exhibitions, video shows, press conferences, presentations, concerts, lectures, drama reading and small plays It is the best venue for drama performance and other activities.

Rehearsal field

The space of nearly 30 Ping, the wooden floor without beams and columns, and the floor standing mirror with large wall provide excellent conditions for rehearsal. It can accommodate about 30 people.
