Xinliao waterfall is located in Dongshan Township, Ilan County, Taiwan Province. It is a natural ecological trail with leisure, hiking and educational functions. It is very suitable for families, parents and children.

Forming history

Xinliao waterfall originates from xinliao mountain, which is about 1000 meters above sea level. It is the source of Dongshan River in Yilan County. In the early days, because of the difficulty of mountain roads and the scarcity of tourists, it was only after Luodong forest management office opened a climbing trail in 2005 that tourists had a chance to get close to this paradise. The trail starts from Dongshan working station of Luodong forest management office and ends at the waterfall viewing platform in front of xinliao waterfall. The total length of the trail is about one kilometer. In order to preserve the natural ecology, the ecological construction method is adopted for the construction of the trail. Except for two river crossing suspension bridges and two small steep sections built with wooden ladders, the rest are mostly made of local materials and paved with black stone slabs or logs. The landscape of the trail is quite beautiful, with green mountains full of emerald peaks. Beside the trail is the clear xinliao river. Tourists are living in the forest path. They are relaxed and comfortable. They can reach the waterfall without wading.

Xinliao waterfall trail is rich in ecological resources. In addition to wild frogs such as fish and shrimp, brown tree frog and Swinhoe's red frog, there are all kinds of butterflies, short bellied viper, thin winged dragonfly, Taiwan purple thrush, lead water thrush and Taiwan macaque. Along the way, the moist ferns and shade tolerant plants grow luxuriantly, while the vines and epiphytes also use the abundant water vapor in the valley to attack the living space, rich in the scenery of subtropical rainforest. In addition to enjoying different species, the air is also full of phenytoin and anions, especially the anions produced by the splashing water of the waterfall, which is conducive to calming the mood And health care. Walking for about 30 minutes, you can reach the waterfall. There is a waterfall viewing platform at the end of the trail, which is only 60 or 70 meters away from the waterfall. You can experience the majestic momentum of the waterfall from a short distance. The splashing water of the waterfall produces a lot of anions. Taking a rest here is especially refreshing.

Forest Bath

Xinliao waterfall is located in the upper reaches of Dongshan River, which is one of the sources of Dongshan River. Dongshan River originates from xinliao mountain, 980 meters above sea level. There are 10 waterfalls down there. The one opened by the forestry bureau is the one closest to the flat ground. The whole trail ends at xinliao waterfall. It's less than one kilometer one way. Fish ladder hydrophilic

The trail starts with a section of pedestrian Lane paved with driftwood chips, and gradually approaches the stream with the smell of wood. On summer afternoons, many adults, with their children and towel chairs, have been hopping along the footpath. The sawdust is as soft as mud, and it's comfortable to walk. They are admiring that the forestry bureau is finally working, and the gentle and clear xinliao river is on the right. Footpath is often with the stream side, you can find a place to play in the water, can be said to be a real hydrophilic footpath. What is unique is that this stream not only welcomes people, but also takes care of fish. On one side of the sand bar, there is a gentle fish ladder for fish to swim. Xinliaoxi is seriously polluted by the mine and has few fish. Only after the development can it regain its vitality under the protection of the villagers.

Forest Walk

After passing through the shallow water playing area, the trail enters the circular forest trail, which is still accompanied by the stream. You can still see people napping on the spot under the shade of the forest and on the rocks. Some people choose the place where the waterfall rushes down to give it a natural spa.

Qingxi suspension bridge

The forest trail bifurcates at the first step, turns right to Qingxi suspension bridge and goes straight to xinliao waterfall. You should go straight (go left and turn right to avoid traffic jams). In the sound of the waterfall, you can reach the waterfall platform soon. In theory, the waterfall viewing platform can have a panoramic view of xinliao waterfall. Unfortunately, the view is a bit blocked under the lush forest. It's better to go down the waterfall suspension bridge on the right to enjoy the cool beauty of the waterfall.

Touch the breast Bridge

There are two suspension bridges in xinliao waterfall, which only allow one person to pass through the cableway suspension bridge. If there is a too narrow laneway in Lukang, the suspension bridge in xinliao Creek is the laneway bridge. However, the laneway bridge is so narrow that even a fat man will feel crowded. It is also a unique trail. But it's good to take a picture of xinliao waterfall on the suspension bridge.
