Historical legend
The legend of Wang Ling Guan was named Wang Shan, who was a disciple of SA Zhen Shou Jian. When he was in need of Huang in Town God's Temple, Xiangyin, she was sent to Town God's Temple by the thunder of the sage under the anger of Sangzhen. She wandered all over the world. It is also said that Wang Lingguan was the king of evil in the time of Emperor Taizong of the Tang Dynasty. "He had strong arms, strong sex and straight character." Because of the people's killing and burning of an ancient strange temple in Yijiang River, the strange wind was so strong that it was lucky that Mr. SA arrived and killed the demons in the opposite way. The Jade Emperor appreciated Wang's hatred of evil, so he made him Marshal Huoluo and granted him the duty of supervising the seal of gold. Later, he was respected as the protector of the Dharma by Taoism.
Architectural features
The image of Wang Lingguan in the hall today is about seven feet high, powerful and ferocious, with a red face, one eye on the forehead, three eyes wide open, serrated, shackled teeth, Qiu Xu angry, wearing armor and whip, which has the spirit of shaking demons and subduing demons. There are couplets on both sides of the hall, saying: three eyes are clear, all over the earth; one whip is powerful, protecting the southern sky forever.
It can be said that Wang Lingguan did his duty scrupulously in Huashan. It is said that the original monkey in Huashan is very naughty. He often steals the fruits from the temple and harasses the public. But they asked Wang Lingguan to whip the monkey to Mount Emei. Although this has given Taoists a temporary peace, it has made Huashan a place where monkeys play. This is a great pity for Huashan people.
Other related
In the Taoist deity system, Lingguan is the God of protecting the law and supervising the altar, and is the duty of supervising the heaven and the world. All those who violate the law and discipline, are unfaithful and unfilial should be punished. On the corridor of the Lingguan hall in Jinding, there is a wooden horizontal plaque with the regular script of "Sheng en Pu Pei". Here, "Sheng en Pu Pei" has two meanings: one is to say that the emperor's grace is widely spread in the world, praising the flourishing age of the dynasty; the other is to praise the emperor Zhenwu's favor, shining selflessly and moistening the world like sunshine and rain, so that the whole world can get vigorous vitality.
